May 19, 2011 – Saekson Janjira-trained bantamweight Edwin Figueroa (7-1) was recently scheduled to make his second octagon appearance against submission specialist Jason Reinhardt (20-2) at UFC on Versus 5, schedule for August 14 in Milwaukee.
Coming off a UFC Fight of the Night performance against a fellow prodigious striker in Michael McDonald, “El Feroz” will be facing an entirely different type of opponent altogether in Reinhardt, a submission specialist with sixteen tapout victories to his credit, most of them in the first round. Dropping to bantamweight from 145 in this fight, Reindhardt is also looking to rebound from loss to “The Mongolian Wolf” Tiequan Zhang in his last fight.
For his part, Edwin is still looking for his first UFC win, though he’ll be much more prepared after taking his virgin foray into the UFC with less than two-weeks’ notice before putting on a universally-regarded impressive performance against McDonald at UFC Fight Night 24.
Figueroa versus Reindhardt now joins a card headlined by Ben Henderson taking on Jim Miller and also including Stephan Bonnar taking on Karlos Vemola along with Amir Sadollah taking on Duane “Bang” Ludwig.
