April 10, 2011 – As promised, pictures and video from the 2011 Texas International Grappling Festival put on my Elbert Hebron and Grand Prix Grappling is now LIVE and posted for competitors and spectators that attended Saturday’s event.
According to promoters, about 400 competitors showed up to roll including the ZTS Competition Team and some of our very-own sponsored athletes including this guy below, undoubtedly the most well-dressed black belt at the tournament, and sporting the TXMMA patch to boot en route to Advanced No-Gi GOLD!
Texas International Grappling Festival 2011 – Super Fight Recap
Four super fight matchups also started off the day.
- In the first, Matthew Kim of Paul Thomas BJJ submitted Hector Silva of Gracie Barra with an arm bar after a fast and furious scramble-filled affair. (video)
- Next, Jeremy Loflin rolled valiantly but Raul Jimenez was able to control position and win the purple/brown belt matchup via points. (video)
- Also rolling was BJJ world champion black belt Brandon “Wolverine” Mullins of Gracie Barra TX. Mullins took a very game Spenser Gilliam from Solis Martial Arts, who put up a great fight prior to succumbing to a choke after a lengthy battle. (video)
- Last but not least, Igor Santos of Paradigm hit a beautiful knee-bar submission off a helicopter sweep to score the victory over Gracie Barra’s Alejandro Siquiera. (video)

Texas International Grappling Festival 2011 – Videos
Also, for all those that missed the action or were too busy to competing to check out some of the other great ones on the mat, I’ve posted a selection of top competitor match footage (primarily purple belts and up, along with those who actually grabbed me to shoot their footage) to the my own Texas BJJ & Grappling Channel for your viewing pleasure.
Special thanks to Brandon Joseph and Jose Angel Llanas for helping me with video. Also thanks to all our sponsors, including Team Mohler and Voice of the Cage for making it easier for us to do what we do.
As always guys – I appreciate your reading. Stay healthy, keeping rolling, and don’t forget to mop the mats!
