January 26, 2011 – We just received word from IXFA Promoter Chris Reed that an injury has forced MMA-veteran challenger Chad Cook out of his title shot against IXFA Light-Heavyweight champion “Hurricane” Ike Villanueva, which was set for the next IXFA event at the Verizon Wireless Theater in Downtown Houston.

“This is a very unfortunate situation for me; I was half way through probably my best training camp when I dislocated my rib, I tried to train through the injury but my doctor said I needed 3-4 weeks off to heal. I wanted to just call it down and give the IXFA a chance to replace me on the card. I will be ready for the April IXFA card and hope that Ike and I get a chance to make it up.” says Cook.

Prior to this bout, Cook was coming off a dominant TKO victory over Ruben Davila at the IXFA this past December.

With exactly one month to go until the next IXFA Event, promoters Chris Reed and Scott Dawson are currently in talks with several fighters to step in and replace Cook for a shot at the Light-Heavyweight title.
