BRAZILIAN NATIONAL CHAMPION TO FACE IFC CHAMPION IN CORPUS MMA SHOWDOWN
Says Texas MMA is for “little girls”.

TRAVIS WUIFF TO MEET “GOGO” JACINTHO
March 27, 2007 – Leland D Productions today announced that UFC/PRIDE veteran and IFC US Lightheavyweight Champion Travis “The Diesel” Wuiff out of Minnesota will meet Brazilian National Champion Arthur Cesar “GoGo” Jacintho on the Friday, April 13 IFC CAGED COMBAT card at the American Bank Center as part of an action filled night of fights which will also feature hometown Brazilian Jiu Jitsu master Robert Villegas in title defense of his own. In addition to the two title fights, former Corpus Christi Rayz enforcer Geoff Bumstead will also be entering the IFC‘s 30 foot steel cage as part of the ten fight line up on Friday the 13th.

“Friday the 13th is a bad luck day for the Brazilian”, says Wuiff. “He’s come all the way from Rio to get a bad beatdown.” Wuiff has been trained by some of the greatest trainers in MMA including Dave Menne, Pat Miletich and Jeremy Horn . He has been wrestling since he was 5 years old but loves to hit and fight inside. With over 300 Brazilian Jiu Jitsu matches to his name, GoGo is unimpressed. “In Brazil we fight real Vale Tudo, Texas MMA is for little girls. It will be hard for me to not hurt him.” Sounds like fighting words.

Corpus Christi’s Villegas will be meeting another Minnesotan, wrestling standout Karl Knothe in the semi main event. While both fighters exhibit excellent ground skills, both also like to throw the leather. Villegas especially has been working on his standup game and is looking for a KO. “Everyone knows I’m badass on the ground ” says Villegas. “Now it’s time to knock some one out.” Joining Villegas, his instructor, on the fight card that night is former Corpus Christi RAYZ enforcer Jeff Bumstead. Says Bumstead, ‘You know when I played hockey, I spent a lot of time in the penalty box for taking out the other guys. Now I get to step into the cage and pound on my opponent and it is all legal. Life is very good.” Bumstead will be fighting Josh Neal, a kickboxer out of Modesto, CA.

Also on the card will be Chicago’s Brian Fielder, Houston’s Jose Santibanez, Daniel Pineda and George Paz, Nebraska’s David Gregory, Missouri’s and Indiana’s Carl Wisnieski.

The event will feature an anticipated ten fights including the two championship battles. IFC fighters come from many backgrounds; they are respected as some of the best athletes in the world. Most use a combination of boxing, wrestling, empty hand combat and martial arts fighting techniques in the ring. Bouts can be won by knockout, submission or by the scorecard. There are three five-minute rounds in a non-championship bout and rounds in a championship bout. Known for their extreme, no holds barred fighting in the 30-foot steel cage IFC fighters will do anything necessary to win.

The action all begins at 8 PM on Friday April 13, 2007 at the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi. It will be kicks, punches, knees, takedowns and submissions all happening in the IFC’s 30 foot steel cage. It’s a night of intense action, great fun and the very hot IFC cage girls brought to you by Leland D along Ktock Enterprises and Ivan Entertainment. Don’t miss it. Tickets start at $16.50. For tickets call 361-881-8499.
