ULTIMATE FIGHTING CHAMPIONSHIP® AND SPIKE TV PREMIERE “ULTIMATE FIGHT NIGHT™” TO SOLD-OUT CROWD

Marquardt, Bonnar and Leben Among the Winners Of UFC Event Televised LIVE From Las Vegas

Las Vegas, NV (August 6, 2005) –The Ultimate Fighting Championship ® (UFC ®) organization and Spike TV tonight premiered the first-ever “Ultimate Fight Night™” featuring some of the fighters from Season One of the hit reality series “The Ultimate Fighter™.” The event was attended by a sold-out crowd of thousands, including celebrities Tyrese and Wilmer Valderrama, at Las Vegas’ Cox Pavilion. An encore telecast of this evening’s Ultimate Fight Night can be seen Thursday, August 11 at 6 pm ET/PT.

Nate “The Great” Marquardt (out of Denver), Stephan “The American Psycho” Bonnar (out of Chicago) and Chris “The Crippler” Leben (out of Gresham, OR) were among the eight winners who exited the Octagon™ at the UFC event televised live on Spike TV.

The main event pitted Nate Marquardt against Ivan Salaverry (out of Seattle) in what turned out to be a compelling exchange of wits, strength and well-timed take-downs.  Marquardt dominated the match, striking with leg kicks, resisting attempted submissions by Salaverry and ultimately winning by unanimous decision (30-27; 30-27; 29-28).

In an action-packed match, Stephan Bonnar battled fellow Ultimate Fighter Sam “The Alaskan Assassin” Hoger every minute of all three rounds – echoing elements of his epic fight against Forrest Griffin in the The Ultimate Fighter Season One finale – by alternating stand up strikes and ground maneuvers to score a victory by unanimous decision (30-27).

Chris Leben also astonished the crowd by withstanding the offenses of his experienced opponent Patrick “The Predator” Cote (Montreal) and scoring enough strikes and counter-moves to earn a split-decision win (29-28; 29-27; 30-27).

Following are the results for UFC’s Ultimate Fight Night:
