Check it out at: www.lekavieira.com . She is going to be teaching some privates classes as well.
Please call to reserve your spot. Space is limited.

In 1992, at the age of 16, Leka began Jiu-Jitsu. She was a “little fat” and had heard that jiu-jitsu diet would be good to lose weight. Within three months she lost 18 pounds. Due to hard training she reduced her body fat to 8 percent. That is equivalent to a young male athlete! She received her blue belt in just six months time. This is faster than most people. At the time, the female fighters had four years more experience and were as much as 20 kilos heavier. An average girl could not compete with them, but she did. By 1995, Leka was a purple belt and word had spread that she was tough fighter and no one wanted to fight her. During her time at Dojo Jiu-Jitsu people traveled from all over the world specifically to meet Leka.

Her black belt “post-graduate” was at Gracie’s Tijuca Academy. In 1999 she became the first woman black belt world champion in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and just this past July 2002 she won the Mundials again. She is also the 2001, 2002 and 2003 Pan-American champion. For those who are unaware, the Mundials were created for the precise purpose of attracting foreign fighters and establishing the sport’s Olympic potential. They were thinking ahead to the 2004 Olympics and hoping optimistically that Rio might be selected to host them, thus the Campeonato Mundial de Jiu-Jitsu (World Jiu-Jitsu Championship) was first put on in 1996. The Pan-American was staged for the first time in 1995 to link up with the academies of the many expat Brazilians and is held in the United States.

Through courage, perseverance, dedication and will power, Leka earned a black belt; and through her performance, and wins at the Mundials and Pan-Ams, she established respect at the Brazilian level and for the whole world. The June 2001 Full Contact Fighter magazine described Leka as, “Leka the Lion killer is taking the Jiu-Jitsu world by storm.” She is “killing lions” meaning the barriers and difficulties, always showing she is capable and paving the way for a new generation.

Don’t miss this out!!

It’s going to be a happening!!
