In case anyone is wondering what went down with the events at Coyote Ugly in Dallas, apparently the promoter was not licensed to run the event, and Coyote Ugly, unaware of this fact, canceled upon learning from the TDLR that they would run afoul of the law if the shows were run. Also, apparently the TDLR thought that TXMMA.com was helping sponsor or promote the event, which it was not.
Here is the email sent by Mike Yuhr of the TDLR’s enforcement division to Coyote Ugly:
“The Department of Licensing and Regulation has opened a complaint concerning an allegation that your venue has or is promoting Combative Sports Events. These events seem to be in conjunction with TXMMA and Eddie Kaderski.
If infact Coyote Ugly is promoting you should be aware that it is a violation of Texas Law to advertise or promote a Combative Sports event in Texas without first obtaining a license. TXMMA lists an event on it’s calendar of events for tonight. If this event is held, you, your company and those others who participate may be subject to administrative action by the Department.
I urge you to discontinue promotion of the Ultimate Combat of Texas Event to be advertised to be held at your venue.”
