THE FINISHER CUP

In conjunction with the NPC Lone Star Classic Bodybuilding and Fitness Show

June 7th, 2002 – Plano, TX

ÿ

Dallas Texas’ newest Grappling Event will also be the best.ÿ We are planning to have well over 300 competitors at our first show.ÿ The trophies are amazing, the competition will be fierce.ÿ For more details email us at finishercup@sbcglobal.net

ÿ

Superfights: Huge Superfights To Be Announced!ÿ And when we say huge, we mean it.

ÿ

Website: FINISHERCUP.COM Website active on 4/28/03

ÿ

Rules: The Finisher Cup will use the rule set developed by the UGC, a 3 judge, no points system to determine a winner.ÿ This is to prevent the “takedown and stall” strategy that is very common in today’s grappling events.ÿ Experienced judges with no affiliation to any local schools will determine the winner on the following criteria.

ÿ

  • Dominance in standup

  • Dominance in groundwork

  • Aggressiveness

In order to be fair to all styles, all submissions are legal, with the exception of small joint (fingers, toes) manipulations.ÿ Experienced referees will ensure the safety of the competitors.ÿ And obviously, this being a grappling event, the following actions are also illegal, and depending on the severity and flagrance of the foul be punishable by warnings, faults or disqualifications.

ÿ

  • Striking of any kind

  • Direct frontal pressure to the windpipe/throat with hand or forearm

  • Fish Hooking (placing fingers in the mouth)

  • Hands, Fingers, or elbows in the eye

  • High altitude throws or slams LANDING ON THE HEAD or NECK

  • In No-Gi competition, manipulating opponents trunks

  • Poor, unsportsmanlike behavior

Furthermore, excessive stalling or turtle-ing will result in a warning, followed by a fault, and then disqualification on the third offense.

ÿ

Spectators: Entry to view the Finisher Cup only is $5.ÿ However, in the adjoining hall is the NPC Lone Star Classic bodybuilding show.ÿ Admission to the show is $15, and covers admission to the Finisher Cup.ÿ There will be vendors, bodybuilding competition, fitness models, and many celebrity guests from the bodybuilding world including Dave Palumbo, Collette Nelson, and Jen Cook.

ÿ

Tournament Entry: Pre-registration (until May 31st) is only $45, and you will receive a tournament shirt at the event.ÿ Please specify your T-Shirt size in advance.ÿ Registration until 9am the day of the show is $60, so please register early.

ÿ

Skill Divisions

ÿ

  • Beginner (SUGGESTED: up to 6 months)

  • Intermediate (SUGGESTED: up to 2 years)

  • Advanced (SUGGESTED: over 2 years)

ÿ

ÿ

ÿ

Note all Skill Divisions are suggested.ÿ There will be noticeable difference in skill between someone who trains sporadically once or twice a month for two years, and someone who trains 4 times a week for two years.ÿ Use your own discretion.ÿ In future events we will enter criteria to prevent “sand bagging”, but for this event, you are on your honor.ÿ A beginners trophy is a great prize for a true beginner, but is no badge of honor for someone who is truly advanced.

ÿ

  • 210lbs – 264.9 – Heavyweight

  • 200lbs – 209.9 – Cruiserweight
