On Saturday, June 22nd, top light heavyweight contenders Vitor Belfort and Chuck Liddell will face off in a battle to decide the number-one contender for the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship.
The event will be at the Grand Ballroom in the Bellagio Hotel and Casino on Saturday afternoon. The doors open at noon, and the first fight starts at 1:00 pm.
The undercard will feature many rising MMA stars of tomorrow, including several young guns from the exciting UFC 37 card. In the preliminary to the main event, Pat Miletich prot‚g‚ Robbie Lawler will take on Steve Berger in a welterweight showdown. 20 year old Lawler, the UFCs newest rising star in the welterweight division, put on spectacular show in his UFC debut at UFC 37, winning a standup war that many people believe to be one of the top five fights in UFC history.
Also in the welterweight division, Benji Radach will face Nick Serra, the younger brother of lightweight star Matt Serra; and Zack Light will fight Pete Spratt in a battle of newcomers. UFC 14 veteran Tony Fryklund makes his long-awaited return to battle Marco Ruas nephew Rodrigo Ruas in a middleweight showdown. In the lightweight division, Joao Pierini will fight Josh Thomson.
Tickets, priced at $150, $100, $50, and $25, go on sale next week at the Bellagio ticket office (888-488-7111). Seating will be extremely limited, so dont hesitate. The event will not be televised.
