Legacy FC 55 card announced for May 13th in Houston

HOUSTON, TX – The Legacy Fighting Championship recently announced their next card for their home city of Houston with LFC 55 taking place the Arena Theater about a month from now on May 14, 2016. Featuring a plethora of local fighters along with some returning veteran talent from around Texas and beyond, the card should once again be an interesting one with divisional ramifications across the board.

“This will be our second event this year in our hometown of Houston, Texas,” said Legacy president Mick Maynard about the event. “We love being home and expect this to be another event featuring some of the best fighters in the world, in one of the best fight cities in the world.”

Heavyweight clash highlights the main card; veterans featured most on AXS TV televised slate

Headlining the Legacy FC 55 card is a heavyweight contender bout between former title challenger Brice Ritani-Coe (4-3) and undefeated debut fighter Justin Ledet (6-0). Ritani-Coe has competed in promotion twice before, splitting the results 1-1 and losing out in a title fight vs. UFC signee Cody East. He’s known as a strong striker with all four of his wins ending by KO/TKO in the early rounds. As for his opponent, Ledet has competed primarily as a light heavyweight throughout his lengthy, if not drawn out career. While he’s been successful in MMA, it seems that Ledet has put more focus into boxing in recent years. With a high profile return here, Justin has a shot to put himself at the forefront of MMA fans’ minds with a great performance if he can get past his veteran opponent.

In the co-main event of the event, Legacy flyweight champion, Damacio Page (19-10) will take on another veteran of the promotion and perennial Texas MMA ironman Ryan Hollis (11-9). Page walks into this bout having fallen out of a planned bout against Matt Schnell at LFC 52. Schnell defeated Klayton Mai on that card to take the interim belt and now Damacio is back to show why he’s the real champ. With a planned unification bout slated for later this summer, Page must first defeat Hollis. Meanwhile Ryan will be looking to spoil the party and once again claw his way to the top.

Elsewhere at Legacy FC 52, Ike Villanueva (11-7) faces Bandon Farran (12-11) in a battle of veteran strikers headed in opposite directions as of late. Farran has lost 3 in a row while “Hurricane” Ike has won three straight. Will Farran stop his momentum or will Villanueva continue his storm surge towards the top of the middleweight division?

As for the rest, there’s some other fighters to watch as well.

Gracie Barra Texas prospect Roberto Sanchez (4-0) is an interesting one. He’s had a solid run to start off his pro career and has already shown amazing prowess with his grappling/submission game. He takes on Legacy debut fighter David Waters (3-0). Another submission oriented veteran in Humberto Deleon (6-6) also makes his return against Saul Soliz trained prospect Adrian Yanez (4-1). Meanwhile in the last (first) televised fight of the night, striker Dulani Perry (1-0) takes on Manny Lozoya (1-0).
