Latest West Texas fight card pits vets against each other in main event; Ryan Hollis vs. Jonathan Martinez definitely also another matchup to watch

LUBBOCK, TX – There’s an interesting matchup upcoming in West Texas with Abilene’s Brandon Farran traveling to Lubbock to take on hometown hero Eric ‘Big Head’ Davila. The bout takes place on the Genesis Combat Sports: Hub City Havoc fight card slated for April 25th at the Fair Park Coliseum. Farran vs. Davila will serve as the main event of the pro MMA card on top of a total 10 fights currently planned for the night.

The two veterans go into the fight having experienced their share of success in recent years. Farran is 4-2 in his last six fights while Davila has won 5 out of 7. Both guys also have complimentary, if not also contrasting, styles. All of Brandon’s 12 wins have come by some sort of finish, mostly by strikes. Meanwhile Eric is known for being hard to finish. They don’t call him “Big Head” for nothing. So this should prove to be quite the exciting fight

Meanwhile, the rest of the card has some other matchups to watch as well.

One in particular that looms as interesting is 9-5 Ryan “Riptide” Hollis traveling from East Texas to west to take on 6-0 prospect Jonathan Martinez.

Reputed as one of Texas’ top ironman fighters in recent years, Hollis will take on anyone at any time. He’s also come into his own after taking on some tough fights early on in his career and has won an impressive 5 out of his last 6 fights, with his lone loss being a late notice bout he took in the Tachi Palace Fights promotion against one of that org’s top flyweights (Hector Sandival). Ryan has won 2 and in a row and will be looking for his third here. Standing in his way this time is Jonathan Ramirez, arguably the top up-and-coming flyweight out of the entire state. That’s an arguable distinction now but it’s not without merit. The guy has beat Xavier Siller and CJ Vergara in his last bouts and currently sports that undefeated 6-0 record. A win here would do nothing but cement his status as a fighter to watch in the big leagues down the road. Likewise for Hollis if he comes out with the victory and so this fight proves to be the one with the most potential ramifications out of the entire card.

Hub City Havoc also features some other interesting matchups like veteran Edgar Verdin taking on undefeated prospect Jason Perrotta along with prospects like Javier Palacos and Fort Hood’s Craig Campbell.
