2013 TXMMA Amateur Fighter of the Year ready to resume his journey towards the pro ranks

DALLAS, TX – When it comes to Texas MMA prospects, “Big Comfy” Camron Couch has much alike with his hairy mythical counterpart, Bigfoot. The Mohler MMA trained fighter boasts a background as a top amateur wrestler and BJJ black belt. He was also the 2014 TXMMA ammy rookie and fighter of the year and stands undefeated at 4-0. But despite all his accolades, most Texas fight fans outside of his inner circle have never seen him fight. Mainly because all his bouts have been across the border in Louisiana. That all changes next Friday night (Feb. 13) when he debuts in Legacy FC as part of the Legacy Fighting Championship 38 undercard opposite Kris Bickham.

“It feels good to (finally) be fighting with a bunch of Texas fighters and friends and to be fighting for an awesome promotion,” says Cam. “It feels way better to not have to travel and have all my friends and family travel so far to watch me fight.”

Not having fought since 2013, Camron had an eventual year in 2014 nonetheless.

“Last year I got engaged and we had a baby boy. So I got to take off some time (from MMA) and started focusing in my (BJJ) black belt.”

Also working at AT&T while taking up coaching duties at Mohler MMA, Couch has had to manage balancing time between family, work, and training. He said it’s sometimes hard but he wouldn’t have it any other way. And with the difficulty of finding fights, he’s very grateful he gets to back and do what he loves to do.

“I’m so happy to be fighting. I’ve had a lot of people back out of my other fights before so I respect my opponent (Kris) a lot for being willing to fight me. Knowing I get to go in there next week definitely fires me up. I think no matter what happens in the fight it will be a fight that people will enjoy watching. Then after this fight I can look forward to getting married in March before going pro, cutting down to 155, and making a solid run in that division. I see a lot of positive things ahead and appreciate everyone’s support.”
