“Titan” looking to parlay Legacy FC 38 success into momentum for the rest of the year

DALLAS, TX – At 30 years of age and with a lifetime in martial arts already behind him, RCJ Machado’s Evan Thompson believes his time is now. “The Titan” is 5-1 in professional MMA and wants to make it into the UFC. In order to get there he has to continue proving himself, and that’s exactly what he plans on doing when he takes on Charles Byrd in his hometown of Dallas at LFC 38.

“It feels great fighting on the Legacy FC 38 card on the 13th of this month! I’m excited to be back in that cage! Having the support that I do have makes me feel thankful that I have people in my life who want to see me succeed in making my dream a reality and that’s to fight in the best MMA promotions in the world against the best fighters in the world!”

With a brother in Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson who’s already tasted UFC success, Evan isn’t a complete stranger to that world. Nonetheless, he’s looking to make his own way there – to form his own identity and make it on his own merits.

“I don’t get to train with my brother as much as I would like too because he lives in South Carolina and is helping my mom and dad run the family karate school but I do have good guys at my academy who are helping me and pushing me to my limits!”

With both Ray Thompson Karate and RCJ Machado Jiu Jitsu in his tool chest, Evan has done well so far. He’s coming off a first round submission win (due to punches) and is looking for more. He’ll be tested in his next fight when he takes on veteran Charles Byrd, a fighter also hungry for success that’s won 3 out of his last 4 bouts.

“Charles is a good fighter and he’s going to bring the fight! I’ve seen video of his fights and know what he does and I’m confident in my own abilities to get this win! This fight can go anywhere and I’ll be ready for it! It’s going to be a WAR that’s for sure!”

I see myself fighting a few more times and hopefully getting a call from the UFC! That’s my ultimate goal for 2015.”
