Chasm Elite returns to Belton County Expo Center this Saturday, Dec. 6th
BELTON, TX – After the successful launch of Chasm Elite in May 2014, Jared Hepler and company return to the Bell County Expo Center in Belton, Texas on December 6th, 2014 to present their third event this year, Chasm Elite 3 – Texas Battlegrounds. CE3 – Texas Battlegrounds will feature ten action-packed amateur bouts headlined by Luis Carter Jr. facing off against Randy Ramirez and Steve Scott battling it out against Steve Wormstadt in the co-main event.
Chasm Elite 3 – Texas Battlegrounds – Previews and Predictions
205 lbs.: Luis Carter Jr. (2-1) vs. Randy Ramirez (1-0)
Fans should be excited for this matchup, as Luis “The Great Dane” Carter Jr. and “Rowdy” Randy Ramirez are not too fond of each other. This is Carter Jr.’s fourth fight and third with Chasm Elite, only losing once by split decision to Thai Walwyn. Ramirez made his debut with Chasm Elite, winning by unanimous decision over Joshua Easterly. Carter Jr. has the sole intention of making Ramirez want to quit MMA after their fight. “The Great Dane” seems to be on a mission and I am not sure “Rowdy” will stop the 20-year ARMY veteran.
Prediction: Luis Carter wins by TKO in the first round.
155 lbs.: Steve Scott (2-0) vs. Adrian Wormstadt (2-2)
Steve Scott boasts an impressive 2-0 record, all with Chasm Elite. Scott is fresh off his first knockout victory and is looking to improve his undefeated record to 3-0. Standing in his way is Adrian Wormstadt. Wormstadt recently suffered a split decision loss at Xtreme Fight Club 7 against Michael McKinney. Scott should aim to bring Adrian Wormstadt to the ground as Wormstadt’s takedown defense was very weak in his last fight, however; both fighters seem to like to stand up and brawl so this fight might prove to be a slugfest.
Prediction: Steve Scott wins by unanimous decision.
205 lbs.: Jeremie Oliver (1-0) vs. Brody DeForest (0-1)
This matchup between Jeremie Oliver and Brody DeForest feature two big white men. Both fighters are huge. Oliver won his debut in dominating fashion at the first Chasm Elite event “CE1 – Titans Collide” by TKO in the first round. DeForest was on the losing side of his debut at “CE2 – Rivalries Collide”, losing by split decision. Both of these big men will look to come in the cage and put the other on the mat. Expect some hard punches in this one.
Prediction: Jeremie Oliver wins by TKO in the second round.
125 lbs.: Christian Hawkins (0-0) vs. Derrick Carden (0-2)
Personal trainer Derrick Carden is looking to achieve his first victory inside of the cage against newcomer Christian Hawkins. Carden has fought twice and been on the losing side both times, a first round KO and second round rear naked choke submission. Hawkins has kept a low profile, as there is not much information on him. This fight is a coin flip and the newcomer gets to call it.
Prediction: Christian Hawkins wins by decision.
170 lbs.: Marcus Still (1-1) vs. Angel Ruiz (1-2)
Angel Ruiz is making his debut with Chasm Elite facing Marcus Still who has fought exclusively for Chasm Elite. Ruiz fought last at Belt of Honorious 3 in November 2013, where he lost by a last minute arm bar submission. Still won his debut with a first round rear naked choke submission, but dropped his follow up fight against CE3 headliner Luis Carter Jr. Ruiz is a standup fighter with knockout power and Still has been training with highly-regarded Pete Spratt. This should be an entertaining standup war.
Prediction: Angel Ruiz wins by split decision.
205 lbs.: Christopher Berry (0-1) vs. Christian Anderson (3-1)
The second of three 205 lbs. bouts will pit Christopher Berry against Christian Anderson. Berry made his debut at Belts of Honorious 4 against Matt Alonso, a first round TKO loss. However, Berry made his debut on less than 24-hour notice. Now he will have a full training camp to prepare for his fight against Christian Anderson. Anderson is currently on a three-fight winning streak all by TKO in the first round. These two have been matched up prior to this bout, but at CE3 – Texas Battlegrounds fight fans will finally see these two fighters step into the cage against each other.
Prediction: Christian Anderson wins by TKO in the first round.
155 lbs.: Manuel Rodriguez (0-0) vs. Ryan Phillips (0-0)
Prediction: Ryan Phillips wins by TKO in the third round.
170 lbs.: Chaz Reed (0-0) vs. Joshua Easterly (0-4)
Prediction: Chaz Reed wins by submission in the second round.
170 lbs.: Kenny Hall (0-0) vs. Derrick Ferguson (0-0)
Prediction: Kenny Hall wins by TKO in the second round.
205 lbs.: George Renteria (1-1) vs. Justin Vargas (2-1)
Prediction: Justin Vargas wins by TKO in the first round.
