San Antonio MMA fight weekend begins with Premiere Combat Group this Friday; A few words with PCG matchmaker Greg Reid

10256248_710219465686926_8357683014930494976_nSAN ANTONIO, TX, June 24, 2014 – Certain sporting events almost demand an entire weekend of fun. Mixed Martial Arts only has a few of those but this weekend gets their own Superbowl of MMA. Premiere Combat Group (PCG) and the UFC both host events in the Alamo City (Friday and Saturday) and its all by design.

“We (Trevor, Danny, Greg) decided a few months ago to go big or go home with our next show,” said PCG matchmaker Greg Reid. As soon as they found out about UFC Fight Night 44 coming to town they saw a huge opportunity to add to it and make MMA an even bigger focal point on June 27-28. Not only would it make it convenient for fans coming in from out of town to catch two shows on one trip, but it was also geared towards amateur fighters who could compete on Friday then stay to see how their counterparts at the highest level performed on Saturday. In short, those fighters have the unique opportunity to experience the whole gamut of mixed martial arts in two days.

“I know these fighters are coming off great camps and determined to leave it all in the cage,” says Reid. “There’s also a lot of <Texas> talent competing the next night at the AT&T Center also. Especially for the die-hard fans of the sport it’s going to be a great time!”

Regarding his own show, Reid expressed excitement at what Premiere Combat Group (PCG) has in store for fans. This will be their fifteenth show overall and he thinks it’s going to be one of their best yet.

1964797_733719433313412_2117001454_n“I’m looking forward to a all of the fights we have set up. Chad (Box) and Joe (Maupin) are both monsters. We expect something big in the main event. The David Waters and Corey Lewellyn fight is one that should be fast nonstop action, these two fighters are incredibly talented. We’re really looking forward to the rest of the card too. Every time I visit with Coaches and Fighters I never forget that I’m in the presence of modern day gladiators. These fighters and coaches spend countless hours in preparation to fight for PCG and we are fortunate that they allow us to be part of their journey. They’re living the dream and letting us be a part of it. We’re going to continue to grow and Friday is just another step on a long fun road ahead with PCG. This card is the perfect way to start Fight Weekend in San Antonio and I invite everyone in San Antonio and surrounding areas to come out and be amazed by the athleticism and warrior spirit our fighters are going to display!”

This event takes place on June 27th at Cowboys Dance Hall at 3030 NE Loop 410 in San Antonio, TX. Doors open at 6PM and fights begin at 7PM. Find tickets at www.apexticketing.com.
