American Grappling Federation hosts purple belt challenge in DFW

DALLAS, TX, February 18, 2014 – The American Grappling Federation held a fun Purple Belt Invitational this past weekend in DFW. The event was invite-only with AGF choosing 10 of the best purple belts they could find (under 160 lbs.) from a pool of applicants from Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and other states. Matches were then held under submission-only rules with a fifteen minute limit at the Fitness Fight Factory facility managed by UFC vet Johnny Bedford and Evan Cutts. As incentive, the overall winners would then compete with some solid incentives for winning, including $1,000 to the winner.

After all was said and done, BJJ Revolution’s Alex Lane (Louisiana) won the AGF Purple Belt Invitational with an impressive 7 submissions out of 9 total matches. He wins the $1,000 first place price and also a $500 sponsorship package from War Tribe Gear.

Coming up second was Texas rep Brandon Walker who won second place with 5 submissions, including the fastest submission of the day (flying triangle). Brandon also wins a $500 sponsorship package from War Tribe Gear.

Last but not least was Clay Mayfield out of Three Rivers Martial Arts in Paducah, KY. A Dallas native, he went home to finish with 5 submissions and third place overall and won a $250 sponsorship package from War Tribe Gear for his efforts.
