Metro Fight Club’s Jason Langellier won a split decision over Fabian Galavez to stay undefeated at 4-0 and win the first title of his amateur career. With a tough strength of schedule so far as an amateur Jason is definitely preparing himself for tough competition in the pros shortly down the road. With noted trainer Saul Soliz in his corner, there’s no telling how far he can go.

They say you’re not really the champion until you defend your belt. Gold Team’s David Acosta proved he is indeed worthy of the title champion with his flyweight title defense against Hard Head Hitter Mike DeLeon. His win at LAS 14 now marks his thid in a row and 4 out of 5 overall as an amateur, with all his fights ending by finish. At only 22 years old, David has a world of development yet ahead of him.

Speaking of young prospects, 20 year old Adrian Yanez pretty much proved us right from our LAS 14 Preview. We said the Metro Fight Club rep might be the most polished amateur on this card and he showed as much in taking out previously undefeated Peter Caballero to move to 6-0. Considering his opponent’s experience, which matched his own, Caballero was definitely as good a test as any for Adrian at this point and it was one he passed with flying colors.

Looking ahead towards the future, another young fighter who impressed at LAS 14 was 17 year old Sage Northcutt . Growing up in traditional martial arts, Sage had the striking background to already be considered “The Next Charlie Ontiveros” in Houston MMA circles but he showed to be more than that, handling ground specialist Nicolas Escheverry en route to the unanimous decision. Sage spends his off-time mixing in wrestling and BJJ competitions to go along with his striking so he’s definitely looking to develop into a more well-rounded MMA prospect and it showed with his most impressive victory yet.

Last but not least in our recap is another 17 year old, Jordan Carmona. Fighting out of 4OZ Fight Club the pre-fight motivation for Jordan centered on a prospective title shot at either strawweight or flyweight should he win against Chase Eastham and he did just that, beating his opponent quickly to score yet another first round submission. Looking for this young man to be fighting for a title in early 2014.

Other Top Performers: Colbet Northcutt, Alyssa Cantu, Dennis Sisson, Joshua Preston
