Legacy Amateur Series 14 brings Amateur MMA back to Downtown Houston this Saturday
HOUSTON, TX, December 12, 2013 – Mixed Martial Arts returns to the Bayou Music Center (formerly the Verizon Wireless Theater) in downtown Houston this Saturday for Legacy Amateur Series 14, Mick Maynard’s last amateur MMA card of the year.
The Legacy Amateur Series 14 fight card features 3 Lam title fights with the welterweight, women’s bantamweight and flyweight titles all on the line. At the time of this writing (2 days before fight day) the card is down to 14 fights so there should be a lot of action to look forward to for Houston MMA fans.

Now let’s take a look at some of the Houston MMA amateur prospects we’re looking to seeing the most at Legacy Amateur Series 14.
Top Houston MMA prospects to watch at Legacy Amateur Series 14
1. With an undefeated record of 3-0, Metro Fight Club’s Jason Langellier (3-0) has quietly developed into a fighter to watch on the Houston MMA scene. His record shows some impressive wins over Leroy Vaquez (3-1) and Jeff Spangler (4-2). Moreover, the 6’4″ welterweight has plenty of range and has been groomed to use it by none other than legendary local MMA coach Saul Soliz. He’ll be facing another undefeated prospect in American Combative System’s Fabian Galavez, a 23 year old brawler who also has his eyes set on the LAM welterweight title.
2. Gold Team’s David Acosta (3-1) has been on a mission. The Jorge Macaco Patino pupil and Gold Team Texas gym manager has won his last two straight by TKO, including one over Chris Rivera (3-1) this past June for the LAM flyweight title. He now defends that title for the very first time against the onlly person he’s lost to as an amateur, Mike Deleon (3-0). Will he avenge that submission from August 2012? If so that would put him on the radar as a pro prospect to watch.
3. Metro Fight Club’s Adrian Yanez (5-0) has been on our rader for quite some time. Fighting since October 2011, the 20 year old purple belt already has a LAM title under his belt with his TKO over Quentin Kiper (2-2) earlier this year and yet he’s still flying under the radar – not even one of the headline fights at LAM 14 despite his position as the most experienced and successful amateur on the card. This time around he’ll be taking on 23 year old Peter Caballero (5-0), also another experienced amateur who’s a bit more of an unknown here in the Houston MMA scene but definitely a well-known prospect already fighting out of South Texas. Keep a close eye on fight in particular because the winner of this one will definitely be one to keep an eye on for the foreseeable future.
4. Next up, young Jordan Carmona (2-0) returns for his third amateur fight at Legacy Amateur Series 14. We’ve hyped this teenager before and rightfully so as he’s ended both his fights so far by first round submission. In talking with Coach Bob “General” Perez, Jordan has said that he he’s got a lot of time left on the amateur circuit before he even considers going pro in a few years but he’s already pretty skilled, and rumor has it that his next fight will be for a LAM title should he win out over Chase Eastham (0-2) this Saturday night. Be on the lookout for another first round submission in this one.
5. Last but not least for our prospects to watch for Legacy Amateur Series 14 are actually a pair of young prospects from Solis Martial Arts, Dennis Sisson and Jacon Allphin. These two only have one MMA fight between them with Dennis submitting Calvin Balch in under a minute at LAM 13 but both are highly-seasoned on the mats and we see no reason their success and technical prowess won’t translate over into the cage. Dennis and Jacob are taking on relatively new opponents themselves in BC Compton (0-1) and Shakeem Richardon (0-0) respectively but they could look like the far more seasoned fighters when they hit the cage on Saturday.
