Bayou City’s latest Muay Thai event scheduled for Houston Fencing Center this Friday night

HOUSTON, TX, December 11, 2013 – It’s going to be the last busy weekend on the Houston MMA scene with two events (Legacy Amateur Series 14 & CDM’s Elite Amateur Combat 7) going on in the Houston area this Saturday night but there’s more going on as well in the form of another combat sport – Muay Thai.

For those of you that aren’t familiar with “the art of eight limbs,” it’s essentially the ultimate sport for striking fans – combining punches and kicks with knees and elbows to deliver action-packed sequences from any angle.

Now for those of you that are familiar with the sport of Muay Thai, well you know exactly how exciting it is and the good news is that it’s coming to Houston , hopefully on a more permanent basis if one man can have it his way.

A longtime practitioner of the sport, Texas native and Texas A&M graduate Michael Chase Corley has traveled all the way to Thailand to train with the sport’s best and has even competed as a pro, completed 25 professional MT bouts and fighting in venues such as  Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok. More recently he’s been teaching here in Houston as part of Team Tooke but has long sought to incorporate Muay Thai events as part of the Texas Combat Sports Scene here in his native Houston.

He’s already made headway to that regard, holding informal sparring events and also working with Mick Maynard’s Legacy promotion to co-promote Legacy Amateur Series 10, an event that featured both amateur MMA and Muay Thai back in October 2012.

Partnering with noted former pro boxing contender and local promoter Lou Savarese, Michael Chase Corley now brings forth his latest event, entitled Muay Thai Kingdom.

Scheduled to take place at the Houston Athletic Fencing Center in Southwest Houston (4997 W Belfort), Muay Thai Kingdom is set to feature roughly 11 Muay Thai bouts featuring fighters from all around the city and beyond who’ve all traveled here in search of a knockout.

Doors open at 6pm and the action tips of at 8pm so make sure to stop by and enjoy if you’re in the area. Otherwise we’ll of course bring you some exciting photo and video coverage post-event here on TXMMA.com.

Check out the full fight card for this Friday night’s Muay Thai Kingdom below.
