2014 Austin Open Preview; Updating tournament changes

Fight to Win and World Grappling Circuit return Oct. 5^th for 2014 Austin Open

AUSTIN, TX, September 26, 2013 – The next BJJ tournament event for the TXMMA Tournament Season is quickly coming up with F2W/WGC’s 2014 Austin Open coming up next weekend, October 5^th at Austin’s Delco Center.

With this event Fight to Win and World Grappling Circuit are rolling out a whole slew of improvements and changes that they hope will speed things even faster and deliver a superior product to grapplers who decide to participate in their events.

Never one to be anything but outspoken, WGC promoter Brett Boyce has been announcing these new initiatives over social media for the better part of the last few weeks but here they all are in one place so our Texas BJJ’ers will know what to expect from F2W/WGC events moving forward.

New Changes – F2W/WGC BJJ Tournaments (starting with 2014 Austin Open)

• From now on, 10 ring minimum per tournament.
• Each mat will have 2 refs from now on – one on the mat and one at the table. (If the mat ref misses a call then the table ref will add the points if they see the missed call. If both refs miss a call, you were never destined to have those points. The table ref will also run the bracket and the only other person on the table will be a time keeper who may be a ref in training.)
• Friday at 7pm prior to the tournament will be the last time to make any changes to weights or divisions. If you miss weight on Saturday or signed up for the wrong divisions you will have two choices. (1. Pay a $20 penalty fee or 2. Be disqualified)
• There will be no rules meeting; All rules will be available via online link prior to the tournament.
• There will now be 2 computers and 2 scales for weigh-ins as opposed to one like it has been in the past. Also, you can now weigh in anytime up to 30 minutes before your start time. If you made weight the night before, you do not have to weigh in again.

 9am – 10:30am (First No-gi, then directly to gi)
