Alvarez BJJ wins 2013 Europa Dallas Team Title; Alex Martins and Carlos Diego Ferreira split black belt gold

DALLAS, TX, August 22, 2013 – The results are in from the 2013 Europa Dallas Expo BJJ tournament put on by Fight to Win / World Grappling Circuit this past weekend in Dallas. For the third straight year Alvarez BJJ won the $1,000 team prize and the title of overall team champion for the 2013 Europa Supershow. They won in the team points by a 143-71 margin over the second place finishing team in Mohler / F3 and Next Generation which scored 61 team points to claim third place.

2013 Europa Supershow – Individual Performances

In the BJJ men’s absolute standings Alex Martins (Paragon Dallas) and Carlos Diego Ferreira (Team Ferreira) split 1st place at black belt with Alex taking the podium while Carlos Vidal (New Lineage) and Cooper Cardinale (Alvarez) took brown and purple respectively. Michael Salavazar (KG BJJ / Guz Metzger) took the gold at blue and Devin Sobay (Lovato) took it at white to close out the men’s standings.

Carlos Diego Ferreira again won in the No Gi over 170 lbs. division, winning over Gordon Chapin (Star BJJ) and Jack Garret (Peak Performance) while Igor Estrellas (Twin Wolves) won in the under-170 with Ryan Blumberg (GB Shreveport) and Ben Snow (Brasa Austin) placed second and third in their bracket.

Meanwhile on the women’s side Julie Ottolino (Rodrigo Cabral) was the big winner of the day in winning the all belt levels absolute over Gabriella Mueller (Alliance Team Gacho) and Pearl Baez (Paragon) who took second and third respetively in the GI. On the No-gi side, Valerie Taylor of F3 won out over second place Jordan Gaza (KO Sports) and Christy Ludwick (Zombie BJJ).

In the teen divisions Andy Cordova of Gracie Barra Texas won both the GI and the No Gi divisions after a few great battles with Vincent Saenz of RCJ Machado. while kids shined in all divisions with a few standouts from Alvarez BJJ, Enlightened Warriors, Team Lutter, and all the other teams from above plus more all figuring into the final medal standings.
