“Texecutioner” takes out first UFC opponent Ramsey Nijem in under a minute

FORT WORTH, TX, August 19, 2013 – The Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex can celebrate another big-time MMA victory with the thrilling performance delivered by area fighter James Vick (Phalanx MMA / Team Lloyd Irvin) at UFC Fight Night 26 in Boston this past Saturday.

Facing long odds (he entered the fight as a 2-to-1 underdog) and a long injury layoff against fellow TUF veteran Ramsey Nijem after his stint on The Ultimate Fighter: LIVE, Vick proved that he is indeed back and ready to go against the best competition in the world in the UFC octagon with his performance.

Known as a long and rangy boxer, Vick was ready from the get-go, setting up the guillotine off his opponent’s immediate takedown attempts in the opening bout of UFC Fight Night 26 at Boston’s TD Garden. It didn’t take long for him to complete the guillotine choke submission, putting his opponent out cold less than a minute into the fight for the first round victory.

“I drilled that choke literally 2 or 3,000 times,” said Vick following the fight. “I’m so happy because I’ve been working on my submission game very hard for the last year. It definitely paid off. I was injured for over a year, and this means so much to me. It seemed like an eternity that I was sitting out watching everyone fight on TV at home, and all I wanted was to get back in there. I expected a finish, but not that quickly. It was the greatest experience of my life getting the win tonight. It all went according to plan.”

With this win the 26 year old James Vick now stays undefeated at 5-0 and is also undefeated in the UFC following his UFC debut.
