Ultimate Fighter Semi-Finalist from DFW finally set to make his official UFC debut

Another Texan has finally been set to make his ‘official’ UFC debut this coming August when James Vick (Phalanx Powerhouse, DFW) takes on Ramsey Nijem at UFC on Fox Sports 1.

James Vick began his professional MMA career here in the lone star state in 2011, winning four bouts in a row to start his career while fighting for promotions like Arlington-based XKO and South Texas-based STFC.

A tall and lanky boxer who was also labeled as a relative newbie to the sport of MMA, James Vick joined the fifteenth season of The Ultimate Fighter in early 2012. While he wasn’t one of the favorites to do well on the show going in, he defied the odds – making it to the semi-finals after beating Joe Proctor and knocking out Daron Cruickshank before eventually losing to eventual show winner Michael Chiesa.

He’s been on the sidelines since then but James Vick is now poised to make his return against Nijem, also a veteran of The Ultimate Fighter from the show’s thirteenth season. Ramsey will be walking  into this fight with an official 3-2 UFC record overall thus far, last losing to Myles Jury after winning his previous three in a row.

Here’s the current lineup for UFC on FOX 1 as it stands today:

205 lbs.: Mauricio Rua vs. Chael Sonnen
265 lbs.: Alistair Overeem vs. Travis Browne
