Kolton “White Assassin” Englund looking for second title win at EAC 5 this Saturday

421349_10150643214224293_2021895468_nHOUSTON, TX, February 18, 2013 – Sometimes in order to become really good at something there are certain sacrifices you have to make and fun times to miss on in the name of success. That’s the kind of price you have to pay when you want to become better than everyone else. And that goes for all things in life but is especially true in the highly competitive sport of mixed martial arts. It’s a vertical climb at best and there are no shortcuts to the top.

One fighter, 19 year old Kolton Englund (4-3) has taken this mantra of dedication really seriously as of late. A current champion for Garcia Promotions as of this past September, Englund says he’s on a mission to get all 3 amateur titles in Houston. With one already in the bag, he hopes to gain his second when he faces Brandon Hanna at CDM promotions’ Elite Amateur Combat 5 (EAC 5) this Saturday in Bryan-College Station.

“I’m a full-time fighter and train three or four times a day. It’s rough and I pretty have no life. This is what I want to do though and my mindset is focused on those titles. Getting that feeling of a win after all this suffering…. You can’t describe it.”

With so much on the training agenda and improvement on his mind in several different facets of MMA, Kolton has been driving all over town and traveling even further to get his time in.

He consistently trains with his plethora of teammates including fellow EAC 5 main event fighter Jacob Silva at Silverback Fight Club. More recently, he’s also been spending plenty of time at the Rilion Gracie Academy to work on his Jiu-Jitsu and he’s even spent time with Benson Henderson at MMA Labs on the West Coast in order to get ready for this fight and the rest of 2013. “I’m thankful I’ve had a lot of special people work with me for this,” he says.

“I’m going to do whatever it takes and I’m just going to go in there and do what I have to do to get the win. Then I plan on fighting for the Legacy Amateur 155 lbs. title to complete the trifecta after heading back to Arizona for some more training. This (MMA) means everything to me.”
