Legacy Amateur Series 11 Early Preview – Looking ahead to March 30th Hybrid Fight Card

LAM 11 (1085 of 1127)HOUSTON, TX, January 13, 2012 – Legacy matchmaker Collin Cantrell announced their next planned amateur event today with Legacy Amateur Series 11 set to take place March 30th at the Houston Arena Theatre.

Similar to their last event and unique to the Legacy Amateur Series, this upcoming combat sports show will featured a hybrid card mixing both mixed martial arts (MMA) and Muay Thai bouts. The bouts will all take place in a ring as opposed to a cage and should offer a unique viewpoint for fans in attendance.

On the MMA side, the show features two title fights with Silverback’s Kolton Englund (already a champ for Garcia Promotions) taking on Metro Fight Club’s Luis Lara at lightweight while Adrian Yanez (also of Metro) takes on Kody Williams at featherweight for what should be a very exciting battle between two of the top amateur prospects in the area.

Speaking of top prospects, 2012 TXMMA Amateur of the Year candidate Jacob Silva (Silverback) takes on Roberto Sanchez of Gracie Barra Texas. For those of you that aren’t familiar with Sanchez, he hasn’t fought since last January but was last seen winning the bantamweight title over Silva’s SFC teammate Ramiro Cortina in his last bout and is dropping down to flyweight for this one. Based on both their track records this one is most certainly an early fight of the night contender.

The rest of the MMA card for Legacy Amateur Series 11 features a bevy of top area prospects that should impress if this card stays true to form. Four of them face each other as Chris Rivera of ACS takes on HHH’s Mike De Leon and Tony Oronzo Jr. (SFC) takes on Quentin Kiper of Revolution Dojo.

There are a total of three Muay Thai bouts on the card to add to the mixed martial arts action with current Legacy Muay Thai champion Sammy Mongonia of Kru Pong’s Fight Team taking on Tony Arana of 4OZ in defense of his title with Bebe Laced (also of 4OZ) takes on Elite MMA’s Katie Straub in the only female bout of the evening. A 155 lbs. featuring SBA’s Chris Jackson and Michael Perez of Thai Temple completes the kickboxing attractions for the evening.

Below is the full card for Legacy Amateur Series 11 as it stands today. More on this card as it moves towards fight time come this March here on TXMMA.com.
