We recently got to speak with one of Houston’s nicest fighters in Patrick “Bam Bam” Hutton.
He’ll be returning to the cage next Friday night at Legacy Fighting Championship 14 when he takes on fellow Houstonian Terrance Ferguson.
The bout will be part of the Legacy 14 undercard only seen live prior to the main card on AXS TV’s Friday Night Fights headlined by Lucas Pimenta taking on Jeff Rexroad for the Legacy interim welterweight title.
He’s more on Patrick Hutton prior to his fight next Friday.
Interview – Patrick “Bam Bam” Hutton
Patrick, first off tell us about your philosophy towards MMA and life in general.
When I got to speak I told everyone what I saw in the crowd means more to me than any fight I could win at any level because when I see all of you here for me, that means Pat Hutton has done pretty good in life and I won with all that love and support that came for me. I want people to say when I’m gone one day “man that was a great guy.”
What’s one thing about you people might find interesting?
I can sing really good and have even sung solo in church several times. I love Michael Jackson, Prince and Elvis. I’m actually taking private dance lessons from my friend Lindsey Slott. She’s a former Texans cheerleader and pro dance instructor at Latin Beats Choreography. She is teaching me Motown 25 and the Billie Jean routine so when I sing it I can do it.
You’ve boxed a little before getting into MMA right?
You last fought a tough guy in Bubba Bush back in February. How did that go and what have you been up to since then?
It was going good till he got a hold of me. <laughs> He caught me in a choke. I wasn’t gonna take fight ‘cause I really like Bubba and his team but they needed someone to fight him ‘cause he lost his opponent and I wanted to fight the best. He’s good. He’ll be in the UFC soon.
Since the Bubba fight I took a fight back home which didn’t happen so I’ve just training and loving life. For those of you who don’t know, I’m from Rock Island IL, quad cities right across the river from Bettendorf, IA. Home of original Militech camp.
Tell us a little more about your recent training.
I have been working with Jace Pitre MMA and getting lots of help on my ground with Jace, Andrew Craig, Travis Tooke and all the other great guys over there. Jason Frank has helped me with some Muay Thai too. Just working the best I can to get better. I just worked really hard on my MMA game and worked on my ground and getting better everywhere. In MMA you gotta be good at everything.
Tell us about your fight at Legacy Fighting Championship 14.
Any expectations for this fight?
Well that’s the one scary thing about fighting it’d the unknown. <laughs> you don’t know what’s gonna happen. You just prepare and train and go out and execute and have confidence that I’m gonna win, and I do.
Any last words before next Friday?
