August 12, 2012Ben Henderson and Frankie Edgar had another close on in their lightweight championship rematch in the main event of UFC 150 last night in Denver.

It was reminiscent of their first fight at UFC 144 that saw the result come down to a disputed decision. Just like the first time, this bout was a clash of styles with Edgar darting in and out and using his speed to score while Henderson timed his shots and looked to cause more damage. It predominantly went that way for five rounds of action along with a few timely takedowns in favor of the challenger and a close guillotine choke at the end of the first in favor of the champion. In the end, the result for this fight can certainly be called controversial with viewers split in seeing in favor of both guys. Be that as it may, the judges saw it in favor of Ben Henderson as he retains his lightweight title belt.

Donald Cerrone came out with a spectacular KO win over former Jackson’s MMA teammate Melvin Guillard in the co-main event of the evening.

It was a wild fight between these two for all 76 seconds of this bout. Melvin would come out strong right from the very beginning, tagging Cerrone with a sizzling left hook that put him to the mat. Donald would get up though and eat a few more punches before getting his composure back and firing some shots of his own. Little over a minute into the bout he would rock Melvin with a beautiful left high kick before dropping him for good with a picture perfect right hand.

Also winning at UFC 150 was former Strikeforce champ Jake Shields in his return to middleweight for the first time since beating Dan Henderson in his previous conversation. As expected, the NorCal-based fighter used his prolific grappling to take down and suffocate Ed Herman from top control to score the unanimous victory.

Yushin Okami and Max Holloway would complete the winners circle for the main card with wins over Buddy Roberts and Justin Lawrence respectively.
