Here are the rest of his pre-fight thoughts before tonight in San Antonio.

Interview – Kane Gutierrez (Ultimate Training Systems)

Kane, thanks for talking to us. How are you feeling heading into your fight with Bobby Alexander?

I haven’t felt this ready for anything in a very long time. My body is healed and my mind is calm and open.

Tell us a little bit about your team and training environment.

I’ve trained with Ultimate Training Systems and the amazing people from there for the past two years but it feels like I’ve trained for much longer. Each day has brought me something learned and something to improve on. I’m very thankful for my second family at the gym. My best memories with the gym are the days before upcoming fights. Not just for me but the other fighters as well. It really brings us together.

What training done for your life personally?

Training has opened my eyes to a more open outlook on life. It really helps me finish my long days with work and school. I am so lucky to have the team mates that i have the privilege to work with. They offer the encouragement and drive I need to improve day by day.

What’s one word to describe your style as a fighter?

My style of fighting would have to be “resourceful,” meaning use your different skills as needed when obstacles head your way.

How do the people around you perceive your MMA career?

I’m not too sure my boss likes my fighting and I know it scares my mom half to death but I know I have her support along with the rest of my family and friends.

What are some of your goals in this sport?

My goal in fighting is to come closer to finding who I am as a person. My other goal outside of fighting is to apply myself right and live happy.

Tell us a little bit about your upcoming opponent, Bobby Alexander.

From the sounds of it he is a very well rounded BJJ artist who should be respected for the skills he brings to the table. I thrive off of the amazing support I’ve gotten from my friends and family. I will fight for them and my gym UTS to the end! There’s no telling how the fight will end, but I do think the people will get a show and their money’s worth.

Next plans after the fight?

I can’t wait to have a burger again. I miss those!

Any last words?

I just wanna thank my family, friends, and teammates at UTS for the help and support they have given me. I love you guys!
