HOUSTON, TX, July 20, 2012 – Houston’s own Daniel “The Pit” Pineda (4OZ Fight Club) makes his fourth trip into the UFC octagon this coming Saturday, July 21st, as part of the UFC 149: “Faber vs. Barao” event scheduled for the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Currently slotted in the second bout of the evening, Daniel will be taking on Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt Antonio Carvalho as he looks to resume his winning ways after suffering his first loss after going on a 7-fight win streak including two in his first two UFC appearances.

Daniel Pineda was last seen taking the cage against former WEC champion and longtime UFC contender Mike Brown this past May at UFC 146.

The two would mix it up for three hard rounds with the Floridian Brown gaining the edge over Pineda and winning the unanimous decision but Pineda wasn’t without his moments against his most experienced opponent yet. Down on the cards with two minutes left, Pineda would take Brown’s back but would miss on scoring the finish.

Look for him to come out in typical vicious fashion to try and remedy that this time around against his latest opponent, Antonio Carvalho.

A veteran of the Shooto, Maximum FC, and TKO circuits, the 33 year old Carvalho (13-5) is a ten-year veteran of the sport still looking for his first win in the UFC after debuting with a loss to Felipe Arantes this past January. His most significant career with to date was a 2007 split decision win over Hatsu Hioki in the Shooto promotion. All in all he can be considered a fairly well-rounded fighter
