Interview – Sergio Sosa (Iron Dragon MMA)

Sergio, when did you get started with MMA?

I got started in MMA a little over 2 years ago. My cousin and some friends of mine did Tae Kwon Do around that time. I got introduced to BJJ and that was it. I fell in love with the sport. I’ve always had a competitive edge in me. This is the ultimate sport. Everything you work for and your heart is all put in that cage.

At what point did you decide you wanted to fight?

I went to a local fight… I believe it was Cage Combat 2 to watch a friend of mine fight. Ever since then I was hooked. I knew I had to get into there too.

What do you think will make you good at this sport in the long-run?

My great cardio and always expanding my knowledge of the sport and its entire aspects sir.

Other than MMA, what else do you do with your time?

Anything that keeps me active really. For fun I just like to relax or go out with friends and catch the occasional movie.

How do you feel about our fight this Saturday?

I can honestly say I’m more confident now than for my amateur debut at the last EAC. Having my cousin (Sammy Saldana) also fighting on the same card is also a real motivation for me. He will be making his debut against Edgar Juarez from Paradigm.

Anybody you want to recognize for help you get ready for this fight?

Casey Jones, Sammy Saldana, Bryan, Richard and Cornelius. Thanks guys.

What can the crowd expect from you on fight night?

They can expect a great fight. I went back to watch my last fight and worked on some things.

Do you expect to finish this fight?

It could go any way honestly. Hopefully I get my first submission/TKO win. If not that I’m ready to go all 3 rounds.

What’s next for you after this?

After this fight taking my time off from training and get back to school. Then possibly come back and fight at 145 lbs.

Any last words?

I’d like to thank GOD, my friends, family for giving me all the support. Iron Dragon, Third Coast FC CHAOTIC fight gear. Also, thanks to CDM for giving me the opportunity to fight for their promotion.
