HOUSTON, TX, April 24, 2012 – Fresh off last week’s news that Houston-based Legacy Fighting Championship that it had signed former Oklahoma State wrestler Jared Rosholt, it was announced late last night that the organization has also signed former Bellator season 4 170 lbs. tournament winner Jay Hieron (22-5) to its roster as well.

Currently training out of Xtreme Couture in Las Vegas, “The Thoroughbred” has had a lengthy career thus far with fights in the WEC, UFC, IFL, Affliction, Strikeforce, and most recently Bellator.

Within that span Jay has beaten the likes of Rick Hawn, Jason High, and Joe Riggs in addition to others. HE also holds a decision win over current UFC top-5 welterweight Jake Ellenberger from his days in the IFL.

“We are excited to have one of the world’s best welterweights join Legacy. This further demonstrates our commitment to bringing you world-class MMA,” said Legacy president Mick Maynard in announcing the Hieron signing.

Jay Hieron now joins a Legacy roster that includes the aforementioned Rosholt, grappling world champion Robert Drysdale, and recent UFC veteran Joseph Sandoval amongst many others.
