HOUSTON, TX, March 14, 2012 – Hang on to your UFC hats Houston, Daniel “The Pit” Pineda’s next octagon appearance has been set and it’s coming on UFC 146, set for the MGM Grand in Las Vegas this coming May 26th.

This time around, Daniel will be taking on American Top Team’s Mike Brown, a former WEC featherweight champion who’s beaten the likes of fighters like Urijah Faber earlier in his career. The Coconut Creek, FL-based wrestler and BJJ black belt hasn’t done so well in recent times going 4-4 including his win against Faber (and loss to Jose Aldo) but he did win his last fight, against Nam Phan this past August.

As for Daniel, well as all of Houston knows, he’s had share of UFC success in recent times with 2 wins in a row including his most recent impressive sbmission victory over Mackens Semerzier just earlier this month at UFC on FX 2.

“Pineda is developing as a serious contender as he will be looking for his third stoppage in the Octagon in only 5 months and riding an almost 2 year unbeaten streak,” UFC president Dana White told UFC.com. Continuing on, Dana commented that this will be the toughest test of the Houstonian’s career with Brown having a ton of power and submission prowess to add to all his experience. With that being said, look for win here to fast-track Pineda towards title contention just as the boss says.

Aside from Pineda’s appearance on the UFC 146 preliminary card, the PPV itself offers a card of heavyweight proportions and that’s to be taken literally as all six bouts feature some of the top heavyweights in the world with the main event pitting champion Junior dos Santos against Alistair Overeem.

Check out the full card below as its projected right now. This definitely won’t be one to miss.
