HOUSTON, TX, February 25, 2012 – Another night of professional MMA has come to a close with HDNet’s Legacy Fighting Championship 10 taking place as usual at the Arena Theater this past Saturday night.
Despite some last minute shuffling to the main card due to several fighters not making their contracted weight, the HDNet-televised promotion still managed to pull off an exciting night of fights that saw 5 out of 7 bouts end before the final bell on the broadcast. Likewise, every single fight on the undercard ended in either submission or technical knockout to kick off the night of action.

UFC Vet Pat Audinwood pulls off the victory over a gutsy Justin Reiswerg in the main event
Pat Audinwood secured victory in the main event of the evening with a third round triangle-armbar over hometown favorite Justin Reiswerg in the main event of the evening from Houston. The two were just getting started in the first round, feeling each other out with a few short combination exchanges before Justin’s left ankle flipped over on him in an unfortunate twist of fate. Referee Kerry Hatley momentarily stopped the bout to get the hobbled wheel checked out by the ringside physician. Justin was able to continue and fought well on the feet against his calm and composed opponent for the duration of the bout. It was close going into the third with Bas Rutten (HDNet broadcast team) giving the 2nd to Reiswerg. The tide would turn in the third after a missed high kick caused Reiswerg to slip, a moment which was immediately capitalized upon by Audinwood. He’d secure the body triangle while Justin tried to escape by standing up. Pat would then slip into a slick armbar and threaten a triangle before finally finishing the armbar. Very impressive victory by Audinwood and indeed a gutsy performance by Justin who was obviously limping on that ankle immediately following the bout.
Gerald Harris controls Eric “Big Head” Davila for decision victory
In the “consolation bout” following D.J. Linderman and Eric Davila both coming in over their contracted weight (Davila was originally scheduled against Mike Bronzoulis at 170; Linderman vs. Harris at 185), Gerald “Hurricane” Harris ended up cruising to victory against Lubbock’s Eric “Big Head” Davila in this three round bout. The Oklahoman played a methodical, smart game against the hard-headed Texan throughout by tying him up for takedowns most of the way and not letting him get off on his punches. Davila seemed to hurt Harris towards the end of the final stanza but it was too little, too late as Gerald was able to recover in the midst of another takedown in the largely one-sided affair.
Rey Tujillo scores knockout of the night against Munil Adriano
Welcome back to relevancy Rey Trujillo! He was able to score his 2nd straight win in 2012 with an absolutely spectacular superman punch knockout in 24-seconds over the visiting Brazilian, Munil Adriano. It was a perfectly-timed shot that had Adriano out from the moment it landed. It was definitely a ‘knockout of the night’ performance for the resurgent “warrior,” Rey Trujillo. With this win, he now moves to 10-6 overall in his career-to-date.
Chidi Njokuani wins with a devastating knee over Hulk Harris
In another impressive TKO performance on the main card, Chidi “Bang Bang” Njokuani utilized his Muay Thai experience to best Jonathan “Hulk” Harris in the very first round of their fight. Njokuani would score a crushing knee to the body midway through the first round that immediately dropped the SBA product. Two punches later and referee Jake Montalvo was forced to step in and put a stop the assault over the completely incapacitated Houstonian. It’s early yet but HDNet’s Kenny Rice already labeled this finish as one of the best knees of the year in MMA this far.
Carson Beebe uses wrestling to cruise in decision victory
New Legacy signee Carson Beebe scored his first win inside the promotion with a workman-like three round decision over local favorite Tim Snyder. “Little Juggernaut” would use his wrestling experience to trump Tim Snyder’s standup game in this one as he continuously and effectively brought the fight to the ground to close out the unanimous decision and score his tenth victory overall in MMA.
Alex Morono wins battle of young prospects in opening main card bout
In the opening bout of the evening, two young prospects put in an impressive display of striking that culminated with a very exciting finish for the crowd watching in attendance and those watching at home. As expected, Alex Morono seemed much more polished on the feet yet this one was not without Rashon Lewis finding his own moments with a few well-caught kicks followed by straight punches that would momentarily drop Alex. In the end it was an overhand right by the Gracie Barra fighter that would incapacitate his opponent. Several punches later and Morono scores his first televised win in what should be the first of many in his clearly bright future.

Much of the most exciting matchups of the evening took place prior to the televised card with the local undercard delivering some action-packed performances from some of the city’s most ballyhooed prospects.
Angel Huerta went to 5-0 with his walk-through win over “The Texas Showstopper” Mike Sierra in the first round of their bout. “The Chosen One” would use some of his vaunted sidekicks to gauge distance in this one before clinching up and softening up the DFW-based fighter with knees in the clinch and finishing him off with punches on the ground.
Also getting back to his winning ways was ATT’s Cody Williams, who took on a surprisingly game JT Mendez out of Silverback Fight Club. Many expected Williams to walk right through his inexperienced opponent (less than 8mo. Of MMA training), but it ended up being a much better than anticipated with the former national Golden Gloves winner using what little training he’s had so far in MMA to avoid getting tapped early while dealing some punishment of his own and bloodying his highly-touted opponent. Cody was able to capitalize with a slick triangle to end the fight in the second round to move his way up the ranks while JT proved that he too should be a fighter to watch out for in the near future.
Speaking of fighters to watch out for, Bubba Bush also did what many expected him to do with a quick victory over Patrick “Bam Bam” Hutton. Bush was tentatively early but was able to time the shot perfect against the boxer. Once the bout he the ground the end was almost elementary, as he patiently sunk in a north-south choke to put Hutton out midway through the first.
Opening the night was Lee King, who quietly scored his 2nd dominating win in a row against Shawn Machado. Lee was last seen at LFC 8 finishing things in the first against Mark Garcia and he did the same this time around, forcing the ref to stop the fight less than one minute into the contest. With at least 33 fights to his record, King should be a wily veteran to watch out for against any fighter at 155. Despite being displayed as 41 years old on his MMA.tv record, Lee is just 35 so he best years could be ahead of him yet if he continues on his resurgent path.
