Fighter Profiles – Houston-Area Fighters Set to Appear at Legacy FC 10

MIKE BRONZOULIS (13-4-1) – 33 year old Mike “The Greek” Bronzoulis is a consummate warrior and someone who fans can consider a true warrior of the sport. Fighting five times in 2011, he went 3-2 while fighting in Shark Fights and Strikeforce in addition the Legacy Fighting Championship.  Looking to start off his 2012 campaign with a bang, “The Greek” will be taking on Lubbock’s Eric “Big Head” Davila at Legacy FC 10 in a main event that should be a very hard-hitting affair.

JUSTIN REISWERG (4-1) – 24 year old Justin “Wolverine” Reiswerg might just be the next breakout star hailing from the Houston area if his performances of 2011 are of any indication. He went 3-0 last year after taking a two-year hiatus from the sport to focus on training and school. Now set to graduate college and make his mark on the world both in and out of the cage, Justin will be taking on UFC veteran Patrick “Awesomely Awesome” Audinwood (10-2-1) in a pivotal bout that could determine how quickly he climbs up in the sport.

JONATHAN HARRIS (6-1) – With 2 wins in a row since his title bout loss to Mike Bronzoulis, 27 year old Jonathan “Hulk” Harris is a fighter just now getting his due as potentially one of Houston’s very top fighters. It’s wasn’t more than 2 years ago that he was known for his 2 consecutive sub-20 second KO’s in Legacy. Nowadays, he’s proven himself to be much more than just a knockout artist though he still carries that power. Harris is a fighter that’s rapidly developing in all facets of the game. He’ll look to show just what he’s made of  when he takes on Chidi Njokuani, brother of UFC fighter Anthony Njokuani and a feared striker in his own right.

TIM SNYDER (12-8-1) – Fighting in Houston since the earlier days back in 2005, 31 year old Tim “The Terminator” Snyder is a fighter who’s been around the block and fought some of the very best, including guys like Will Campuzano, Johnny Bedford, and Nick Gonzalez. Recently making the move to 4OZ Fight Club to train with guys closer to his weight like Daniel “Pit” Pineda, Tim will be looking to jumpstart his career in 2012 with a victory over incoming Legacy fighter Carson Beebe.

ANGEL HUERTA (5-0) – Undefeated at 5-0 overall, 31 year old Angel “The Chosen One” Huerta is a fighter that’s incrementally made his way up the ranks since transitioning to MMA from a background as a karateka and kickboxer fighting for Chuck Norris the WCL. Since his debut in 2008, he has gradually added more and more pieces to his game and showed them in his last two Legacy fights with Andy Sandoval and Nate Garza. After coming back from some recent injuries, he’ll look to show even more this around at Legacy FC 10 when he takes on DFW-based fighter Mike Sierra .

BUBBA BUSH (3-1) – A fast-rising middleweight, Bubba Bush went toe-to-toe with UFC-bound Andrew Craig last April, in just his third professional bout. He followed up that 5-round war with a shutout win over Josh Foster at Legacy FC 8 this past September that had fans clamoring about his potential. He’ll be making his return to the cage against Patrick Hutton in a bout that could show how much he’s improved overall since we last saw him in the cage.

PATRICK HUTTON (3-3) – A longtime boxing specialist, Patrick “Bam Bam” Hutton has two years of fighting experience to go along with his work as a special education teacher working with mentally-handicapped students in Humble ISD. “I don’t to be one of those guys sitting around 20 years later talking about what I could have or should have been. I love fighting because it’s just you and another man in the cage saying I am,” he says about why he continues to stay involved in the sport. Set to take on Bubba Bush, Patrick will be faced with his biggest challenge yet come fight night.

RASHON LEWIS (2-1) – Also known as “Sho-Nuff,” 27 year old Missouri City resident and former collegiate All-American track athlete and gridiron quarterback Rashon Lewis is a fighter on the rise. Reminiscent of a young Melvin Guillard, his speed and overall athleticism is something to marvel at and he’s looking to improve technically as well. 1% is how he refers it – as in how much better he wants to get better every day. Taking on Alex Morono in his next fight, he’ll have an opportunity to show the world just how much better he’s gotten since his last fight in September.

ALEX MORONO (3-1) – Just 21 years old and already he’s no stranger to fighting the best around. That’s how we’d characterize Alex Morono, a whiz kid who already holds the rank of BJJ brown belt while also being an extremely proficient striker specializing in Muay Thai. To date his only pro loss has come to the highly-esteemed Jeff Rexroad via split decision.  One or two more wins and we could be looking at Alex as a potential candidate to break out nationally. That all starts on the 24th when he takes on Rashon Lewis in a pivotal career challenge.

CODY WILLIAMS (2-1) – A native of Beaumont, TX, Cody “Wolverine” Williams burst onto the scene in 2011 after a standout amateur career. Considered by many to be one of Texas’ top 135 prospects statewide, Cody will be coming back after suffering a KO to longtime veteran Stephen Garcia this past December at Legacy FC 9. Known as a workout warrior, he should be poised and ready to go when he locks up with 4OZ fighter Jesus Mendez on fight night.

LEE KING (14-17-1) – The most seasoned veteran on the card, San Shou expert Lee King has taken on a who’s who of names in Texas and beyond during a career that’s spanned way back since 2002. Since he debuted, Lee has taken on guys like Sean Sherk, Melvin Guillard, Anthony Njokuani, Roger Huerta, and more. Now at 41 years old, he’s still continuing to fight while doubling as a trainer at Paradigm Training Center. This time around, he’ll be testing himself against Hoger-trained Shawn Machado.

SHAWN MACHADO (2-1) – Trained by UFC veteran Sam Hoger, 40 year old Shawn Machado is a fighter still seeking to make his name in the sport. Beating Lee King on February 24th would go a long way towards earning him more recognition and additional opportunities city-wide.

CODY PHILLIPS (debut) – 32 year old Cody Phillips has long been seen as a fighter with plenty of potential. Finishing his amateur career at 3-0-1 including a draw with current fast-rising pro Alex Morono, Cody has taken almost a year off to hone himself for his pro debut and should come in ready after plenty of work at both Bam Bam Martial Arts and 4OZ Fight Club.

JASON CARTER (2-1) – Known as “The Karate Man,” 31 year old Jason Carter hasn’t fought since beating Dominic Rodriguez in March of 2010 while concentrating on building his school, 646 MMA. Now stepping back into the cage, he’ll look to resume his career with a 2-fight win streak in tact against the debuting Cody Phillips.

JESUS MENDEZ (debut) – Admittedly, we do not know too much about Jesus Mendez other than he’ll be making his MMA debut and currently trains out of Silverback Fight Club.  In his debut, Jesus will be taking on Cody “Wolverine” Williams on February 24th so we’ll try to find out more on him and bring it to you prior to fight night.
