Undefeated Noel Ligon looking to go 4-0 at Immortal Kombat 2 against Husam Mohamed

HOUSTON, TX, January 26, 2012 – “Growing up I always had a big interest in martial arts,” says undefeated pro fighter Noel Ligon. “It has and continues to be a really great experience for me.” Training under one of the most respected veterans of the Houston MMA Scene, Noel may be quiet and unassuming outside the cage, preferring to be outside the limelight, but after 3 straight victories in his last 3 fights, it’s inevitable that he started getting noticed.

“I love this sport because it is so dynamic and challenging. I would say as a fighter, I look to constantly grow and improve to be a well rounded fighter. I always look to do my best and put on a good show.”

Initially starting out as a boxer, Noel actually met Tim Mousel while taking a weightlifting and conditioning course at HCC. “He suggested I come by and try a class,” he says about the chance meeting. “I eventually took him up on his offer and began the transition to MMA at Mousel’s Self Defense Academy.”

“The curriculum and method of training (at Mousel’s) has allowed me to progress very well in the sport of MMA. All the instructors and training partners have been extremely helpful. I certainly would not be where I am today without their guidance. I have been at Mousel’s Academy for almost 4 years now. I would describe it as a great environment to learn martial arts. I believe Mousel’s Academy has something for anyone interested in training whether it be for fitness or competition. For myself, I would like to continue to progress in my MMA career, hopefully make my pro debut in boxing and get in some grappling tournaments in throughout the year. All in all, I want to stay active.”

Winning his past two fights, most recently at Legacy Fighting Championship 9 where he choked Patrick Hutton unconscious, Noel knows he’ll have a tough test on his hands in Husam (Sam) Mohamed, another fighter that hasn’t gotten too much press recently but has been around since the earlier days of the local MMA scene while fighting for Saul Soliz’s Renegades Extreme Fighting promotion.

“I know he has good stand up and is very experienced,” he says about his opponent. “I feel good though because my team has worked very hard and we are prepared for a very tough fight. There are always challenges, but thanks to the training and guidance of Tim, Tony, Pat and Jose along with all my training partners’ help we have had a very positive and strong camp tha’s got me ready to go.”

I want to thank my instructors, friends and family for all their hard work, support and help with my preparation for this fight. I would not be where I am today without them. I also want to thank Samuel Gratz and Jake Latimer for giving me another opportunity to fight in their promotion IMKFight.”
