FORT WORTH, TX, December 14, 2011 – It would seem like the brutal one’s UFC career is in full-swing with news of the latest bout assignment for Fitness Fight Factory’s Johnny Bedford. According to MMAJunkie, the Ultimate Fighter semi-finalist will look to make it 2-0 inside the confines of the UFC octagon when he takes on (Texas-born) Indiana native Eddie Wineland at next month’s UFC on FOX 2 event scheduled for Chicago.

Heading into this one, Bedford is coming off a thoroughly-impressive TKO victory over fellow TUF’er Louis Gaudinot at the TUF 14 Finale earlier this month. Johnny was able to showcase a full repertoire of skills in that fight, winning exchanges everywhere the fight went. Now with 7 wins out of his last 8 fights, the Fort Worth native wants to keep things going and make it 2-0 within the UFC.

To accomplish that goal, Johnny will be taking on a tough opponent in Wineland. Previous to this bout Eddie has fought some of the best, including Urijah Faber and Joseph Benavidez in his last two fights. A veteran of WEC before the UFC merger, he holds the distinction of being the recipient of two “knockout of the night” awards, including one at WEC 49 against another Texas stallwart in Will Campuzano. He was also the first WEC bantamweight champion after beating Antonio Banuelos for that belt back in 2006.

This bout replaces the originally planned bout between Wineland and Demetrious Johnson, who was scratched from the bout so he could compete in the planned UFC flyweight tournament to crown the inaugural 125 champion this upcoming march.

Johnny Bedford vs. Eddie Wineland will now be taking place on January 28 on the undercard of UFC on FOX 2 scheduled for Chicago’s United Center and expected to air live on a FOX cable network (either FX of FUEL TV).

UFC on FOX 2 takes place Jan. 28 at Chicago’s United Center. The night’s main card, which features three bouts, airs on FOX. Prelims are expected to air on FX or FUEL TV. Below is the full slate of bouts projected for that event.
