Las Vegas, NV, December 3, 2011 – On any other TUF 14 Finale recap, it would be appropriate to lead with the season winners or perhaps the headlining main event but tonight on this site, we’re going  to go ahead and lead with Texas fighter Johnny Bedford who graduated with his first official UFC win over Louis Gaudinot. It had been a long road to the national scene for “Brutal” prior to making on season 14 of the UFC’s flagship reality show. Beginning his pro fight career in 2005, Johnny has described his career as a long road filled with plenty of hard sacrifices. He’s fought everywhere from the back of barns to obscure arenas in the Midwest for scarcely a penny before getting to this point and now he’s finally in the UFC with an opportunity to truly make a name for himself on the biggest stage. Winning 7 out of his last 8 bouts now, he’s certainly earned the opportunity. Speaking of that opportunity, Johnny sure made good use of it tonight as he absolutely rag-dolled his green-haired opponent for three rounds before finishing him off with an array of punches, knees, and kicks that went undefended for the TKO in this one-sided affair.

Moving on to the second bout of the evening, TUF 13 winner Tony Ferguson was able to pick up a unanimous decision victory over Texas’ own Yves Edwards in a bout that quickly became an entertaining affair with plenty of hard exchanges and exciting moments on the ground. Despite the fact that he didn’t come out with the W, the 35 year old Austinite showed he still has plenty left in the tank with the way he came at his younger hard-charging opponent. Look for Yves to be back soon and also look forward to a bright future ahead for the youngster Ferguson who now moves his record to 14-2 with this win.

Next up on the docket were the season-ending final bouts for season 14 of The Ultimate Fighter. In the first, it was John Dodson who proved himself to be the top honcho at bantamweight with his quick and seamless victory over T.J. Dillashaw. The ultra-explosive Dodson would put Dillashaw away with an explosive left hook to the side of the head that quickly dropped him. A few blows later and referee Herb Dean had seen enough, giving Dodson the win and the UFC contract.

In the other finale, it was Diego Brandao who earned his own contract after a scintillating performance over Dennis Bermudez. The New York based Bermudez actually came out pretty strong in this bout, tagging and even dropping Diego at one point before getting too overzealous and getting caught in a picture-perfect armbar by the BJJ black belt. It was yet another spectacular performance in a season full of them for the Manaus, Brazil native who spends some of his time training here in Texas with Rodrigo Pinheiro and crew down in San Antonio. With this win, Brandao is now poised to become a star in the UFC and should be a force in the featherweight division for years to come.

Concluding the action on the main card was the clash of coaches between Michael Bisping and Jason “Mayhem” Miller. After months of trash-talking on the show, it was time to get down to business at the Palms and both fighters came out ready. Surprising many, Miller actually jumped out o an early lead in the first round after taking down the Brit and scoring enough points to win round one. Unfortunately for him, that lead would be short-lived as Bisping became more acclimated to the cage as the fight wore on while Mayhem tired and slowed. Eventually it would be Bisping’s boxing that would serve as the main weapon in this fight as he battered and bruised Miller en route to a third round stoppage.  With this win, Bisping now moves to 22-3 overall and one step closer to eventually challenging for the 185 belt currently held by division kingpin Anderson Silva.
