Douglas Frey Preparing to Face Tim Snyder at Fight Game this Friday

DALLAS, TX, December 1, 2011 – We recently caught up with Arlington-based Douglas Frey about his fight this coming Friday at the inaugural Fight Game event (Universal Fight Game League) event against Tim Snyder. He’s been a busy man as of late in between coming back from injury and training for this fight while simultaneously planning his wedding and Eurotrip honeymoon.

Read all about it in this pre-fight conversation on the eve of his fight.

Interview – Douglas Frey

The last time I spoke to you, you were gearing up to fight Masanori Kanehara out in Albuquerque. That fight didn’t go down right? What happened?

Unfortunately that fight did not go down. i suffered an injury during the training camp that forced me to pull out. It was quite the bummer because I was so revved up to test myself against a fighter like Kanehara. It was a shame we didn’t get that opportunity but I am told that it is a fight that still may happen in the near future. I’ll keep my fighters crossed.

So how’s training been more recently? You healed up okay?

I have steadily continued to train since my last fight. Even with the injury, I have been fortunate enough to be able to train around it. Now I’m feeling healthy, healed, and 100%.

Your fiancée Jinh had a fight not too long ago as well right? What’s it like being in a relationship where both of you train and fight? Do you ever train together? And does it ever spill over into other areas, like who makes who wash the dishes and so forth?

Yeah, Jinh fought on the Freestyle Cage Fighting card that raised money for breast cancer awareness back in October. She was able to win a decision in that fight. It’s nice to have someone that shares the same passion as I do for combative arts. We do get to train side-by-side frequently and she is my running partner too. It doesn’t spill into any other areas though. We’re both pretty opened minded and like to share ideas with each other in and out of training. Since Jinh is a nuclear medicine technologist and spends hours upon hour being a scientist, I cook all of our meals and do the dishes. I know my place.

So when are you guys getting married? I’d imagine it must be a pretty busy time for you guys , training for fights while planning around  that?

I have been busy helping Jinh plan our wedding which is going to be for May 21st in Scotland. I am pretty excited about this because afterwards we are backpacking through Europe for a couple of weeks. It’s definitely going to be good times.

Moving on to Friday’s fights, it’s looking to be a pretty big event. What can you tell us about the UFGL?

It’s definitely a stacked card with very well-matched fights. Other than that, I don’t have too much of an opinion about the organization. I hope they do well and have many more shows in the future.

Are you keep an eye on any of those other matches on the card or are you just focused on the task at hand?

I am only focused on the task at hand. I expect to see a game and very hungry Tim Snyder. It’s going to be a good fight.

How can fans expect this fight to end? Any predictions?

My hand will be raised at the end of this fight. That is all.
