G1 Fights to Match USA versus Japan at the Coushatta; Texas Pros to Represent American Team

November 15, 2011 – We recently got word regarding G1 Fights – Sovereign Valor, an upcoming pro-am event scheduled for January 28th at The Coushatta Casino and Resort in Kinder, Louisiana. Featuring an international spin, the professional side of this event will feature a clash between Team USA and Team Japan with honorary captains Tim Credeur (UFC veteran / Gladiators Academy Head Coach) and Ken Yasuda (former IFL coach, Tokyo Sabres) leading the US and Japanese teams respectively.

As for the USA vs. Japan matchup, it might as well be Team Texas vs. the World as the four-fight professional series is loaded with 4 fighters from the Lone Star State, including 3 from the Dallas area (Derek Campos, Jason Sampson, Sean Spencer) along with Adam Schindler, representing the state capital of Austin, TX. They’ll be taking on a Japanese team featuring veterans of notable organizations like DEEP, ZST, and Pancrase in their respective matchups.

Below is a breakdown of the fights currently scheduled for the G1 Fights Sovereign Valor event.

            Team USA                 vs             Team Japan

155 lbs    Derek Campos                        Kota Okazawa

135 lbs    Jason Sampson                      Tashiro Nishiuchi

185 lbs    Sean Spencer                        Yoshihito Kuroki

155 lbs    Adam Schindler                      Flavio Tanaka

In addition to those pro fights, expect about 7 or so amateur MMA bouts to round out this card as well. This portion of the card should be heavily loaded with  East Texas/LA  based fighters with American Top Team, Texas Punishment Crew, and Gracie Barra all expected to have a heavy presence on the card. Specific bouts have yet to be confirmed but sources indicate that Charlie Ontiveros of the Hard Head Hitters may be part of the main event. More on this event as we hear it on TXMMA.com.

Until then, here is the trailer for G1 Fights – Sovereign Valor.
