HOUSTON, TX, October 18, 2011 – As mentioned on the very first LIVE edition of HDNet’s groundbreaking MMA show Inside MMA last night, the Legacy Fighting Championship promotion has inked multi-fight contracts with two up-and-coming featherweight fighters that should make an impact in the near future fighting on ‘Your Home for MMA.

The first, 26 yr. old Daniel Pineda, should be no stranger to local fans in Texas. The 4OZ fighter has been fighting in the state since 2007 while compiling a 14-7 record along the way. Beginning his career with a respectable 8-2 record in his first ten fights, Daniel suffered a streak of 4 losses in a row earlier in his career while taking fights on short notice during a 4-month span in 2009.

“I use to, for my first couple of fights… I would throw an overhand right, shoot, and do my thing,” Daniel told us in a January interview about his early career. “That was a long time ago. My game has really developed since then, and I feel I am dangerous in all areas now.”

So far, he’s absolutely right. Taking a step back to focus on improving his overall game since those losses that seem ages ago, the formerly raw fighter has since rounded out his game in order to become a more complete fighter and thhe results have been impressive. “The Pit” has only lost once since the end of 2009 and recently beat tough WEC-veteran Frank Gomez at Legacy FC 7 to win his fourth fight in a row, a streak that also includes victories over 3 former Legacy title holders.

Now a champion in two weight divisions (145/155), Daniel is expected to take on another pit in Gilbert “Pitbull” Jimenez on HDNet’s Legacy FC 9 this coming December as he continues his bid to climb up the national ranks. Having never lost in his home city of Houston during his entire career, Pineda doesn’t intend to start now.

Also signed by the Legacy FC promotion is 27 yr. old Brazilian Freddy Assuncao, the youngest member of the famed Assuncao fighting family. Training alongside two UFC fighters in his brothers Raphael and Junior, Freddy will no doubt look to use his upcoming experience fighting for Legacy as a springboard to join his brothers in the big leagues.

Currently 5-1 and with a notable win over noted striker and UFC-vet Kit Cope, the BJJ black belt will no doubt look to make an immediate impact as soon as he is scheduled for his first fight within the organization. No word yet on when Freddy will make his official debut for Legacy but he should be scheduled in short order with December and perhaps February being likely dates for his promotional debut.

As for who he might face, Justin Reiswerg would seem like an essential choice followed up by perhaps Ray Blodget or even “Neo” himself Carlo Prater. All that’s conjecture at this point though and we’ll bring you more detail on Assuncao’s future as we hear it here on TXMMA.com.
