Bruno Bastos Poised and Ready to WIN at ADCC 2011 This Weekend in England

DALLAS, TX, September 20, 2011 – The road to the 2011 ADCC Championships ends in Nottingham, England’s Capital FM Arena this Saturday and Sunday (Sept 24-25) when some of the world’s best grapplers meet in the UK for the world’s premier grappling tournament.

With the magnitude of this tournament weighing heavily among what else he wants to accomplish at this stage of his career, Team Nova União’s Dallas area leader Bruno Bastos has been training as hard as possible in recent months in order to give himself a chance at gold in his second ADCC appearance.

“It’s my first time back since 2009,” the Octagon MMA Head Instructor told us a while back. “I’m training really hard to do well this year. I’m not sure how long I’ll be competing so I’m treating this ADCC tournament as if it were my last ever. I want to focus on my family and my students but I want to win too!”

Heading into the event, Bastos hasn’t been short of top level training partners in the least bit.

Aside from  good friends like UFC veteran Travis Lutter and Nova União teammates like Brandon QuickJD Shelley, and Daniel “Jacare” Almeida, Bruno has also been fortunate enough to train with another one of the world’s best in GF Team’s Rodolfo Vieira – who dominated at the 2011 Worlds (weight & absolute) and did the same at the World Pro Cup and Pan Am’s this year.

Since last week, Rodolfo “The Terminator” has been in Dallas training with Bruno, Brandon, Travis, and crew in preperation for his own run a the 2011 ADCC, where he’ll be competing at U99KG against the likes of Xande Ribiero, Roger Gracie, Robert Drysdale, and Joao Assis.

As for Bruno, he’s going into his own bracket competing against a crowded field of his own including defending champ Fabricio Werdum, Roberto “Cyborg” Abreu, Vinny Magalhães, and others.

For him, it’s just the continuation of a dream and another chance at winning.

“I pretty much tell everybody this every week but for me, Jiu Jitsu is something you have to approach the same as whatever you approach outside the mats. Whatever you do outside the mats will reflect what you do on them and vice versa. Life is about competitions. You compete when you’re born, you compete to grow healthy, to be the best in school… and then you compete for jobs, girlfriends, money, and everything else. That’s the way I think about life so what I tell everybody is to take whatever you do and try to be the best at it all the time. That’s reality and how life is going to be. So you might as well compete your hardest. “

Good luck in Nottingham to Bruno as he looks to bring that prestigious medal back to Texas. Oss!
