Quick results: 24/7 III: Return of the Warriors – September 10, 2011

145lbs debut Klayton Mai fought at 155 against Rick Guzman.

Klayton Mai won by TKO in 1st after some quick jabs to setup a big takedown and ground and pound (not: Hutch McWilliams no-showed vs Guzman and Aaron Robinson no-showed against Mai to set up this fight.)

Rashad Coulter had to fight at heavyweight against 265 lb debut fighter Alfredo Ayala and Coulter won in 1st by TKO.

Neal Ewing made his debut but his original opponent dropped during weigh- in day. Gracie Barra Austin’s Matt Holland offered to fill in, so Neal at 206.5 fought Holland at 246. Ewing won by TKO in round one. (note: George Hinojosa no-showed the Ewing fight.)

Victor Hernandez fought Jay “Straight-Jacket” Mendez and won by guillotine choke submission in round one.

Caleb Hudson lost by KO in round one after destroying the legs of Samuel Trevino with leg kicks. Trevino threw out a desperation overhand right that landed and put Hudson out.

Jarret Jones and Edwynn Jones came out fast in the opening seconds. Jarret got the takedown and found the back of Ox and went for a twister and missed so he did what anyone else would do……went for it again and landed the finish on the Twister for the first round submission. (note: video of this one coming soon.)

Daniel “Jacare” Almeida made his 185 debut against undefeated Andre Kavanaugh. Almeida won by RNC at the end of round one.

Clay Hantz and undefeated Micah Franks fought for the 170 lb title. Hantz and Franks did a lot of impressive clinch work against the cage going back and forth looking for strikes and takedowns. Hantz was finally able to get franks down and control him. From there, he locked in an arm-triangle in the final minute of the round for the win and the belt.

In other news fom the event, Jon Voth was supposed to fight Larry Garcia but Garcia no -showed the event.  Again. Daniel Kraft vs Saci Brito was scratched due to Brito no-showing as well. That’s it from Midland.
