Texas Fighters Jason Sampson and Sean Spencer Set for Battle at ‘MMA Fight Pit: Genesis’ in Albuquerque, NM

Jason Sampson

DALLAS, TX, August 12, 2011 – It’s a full slate of MMA with this weekend for Texas fight fans! You’ve got STFC 16 (McAllen) and Legacy (Dallas) going down tonight and UFC LIVE on Versus 5 going down on Sunday. In addition to those three events, we’ve also got a few of Texas’ finest down in Albuquerque, New Mexico to fight on MMA Fight Pit: Genesis this Saturday night.

Set to air in PPV, this inaugural event is headlined by UFC-vets Houston Alexander and Razak Al-Hassan and also features some other notables in “Lil’ Evil” Jens Pulver and TUF-contestant Jamie Yager. In addition to those guys, two undefeated and up-and-coming fighters anchor the undercard in Jason Sampson and Sean Spencer.

For those of you like that seek to find the latest crop of talent to emerge nationally from our Texas scene, you may watch to pay close attention to these two men.

Sean Spencer

Undefeated at 7-0, Jason Sampson arrived in MMA with an impressive background in wrestling and submission grappling. As a coach for Dallas’ Team Mohler, Jason is always a fixture at grappling tournaments all around the state competing as a brown belt while honing his overall MMA game with his Alliance team and many others in the DFW Metroplex. He most recently beat another hometown hero in Randy Villareal heading into this fight and looks to propel himself onto the UFC radar with a win over experienced 12-fight veteran Josh Montoya.

Joining Sampson on the MMA Fight Pit card is Sean “Black Magik” Spencer. A member of Guy Mezger’s Combat Club, Sean arrived in Texas after getting his feet wet in MMA while training at Team Oxendine MMA in Johnson City, Tennessee. A wrestler and former tough-man competitor near his hometown of Bluefield, VA, Sean has gradually picked up the pace of his MMA competition and now stands at 6-0 with wins over such notables as Chris Spicer. Taking on Ali Hanjani (1-1) tomorrow night, “Black Magik” is sure to want to make a statement for a big-league shot of his own.

We’ll have results of these Texas reps’ fights along with the rest of MMA Fight Pit: Genesis as they come in so make sure to stay tuned here to TXMMA.com.
