Fight Fest 3 this Friday Night in Laredo; Derek Campos versus Gilbert Jimenez Headlining 8-Fight Card

LAREDO, TX, July 26, 2011 – Located right across from Nuevo Laredo on the banks of the Rio Grande, Laredo TX is known as “The Gateway City.” This Friday night, that slogan takes on a new meaning with the city being the gateway for MMA with Fight Fest 3. Triple -A promotions is bringing the eight-fight card to Laredo’s Life Downs Pavilion with the doors slated to open at 6PM and the fights starting at 7:30.

Headlining Fight Fest 3 is a very interesting main event matchup between two top Texas lightweights in West Texas resident Derek Campos and San Antonio’s Gilbert Jimenez.

Fighting out of Guy Mezger’s Lion’s Den Team, Derek Campos has long been considered one of the lop lightweight prospects in the state of Texas. At 6-1, the 23-year-old prospect gained his most recent victory just last month in Amarillo when he submitted hometown favorite Cody Pfister in the Undisputed MMA promotion.

Testing Campos this time around is a ferocious fighter with an appropriate nickname in Gilbert “The Pitbull” Jimenez. The San Antonio resident enters this fight with a finish of his own in the form of a thirty-second TKO at IXFA this past February versus Alex Black in Houston. All in all, this bout should be an extremely exciting one for the live crowd in attendance. Look forward to the winner of this bout making even more waves In the Texas fight scene in the near future.

Based on information posted by matchmaker Sonny Luque Trad, the rest of the card should include an exciting mix of prospects from the Rio Grande Valley and around the nation.
