Shark Fights 17: Horwich vs. Rosholt II – Weigh-In Results; Rodriguez Gets a New Opponent

SHARK FIGHTS 17: HORWICH VS ROSHOLT II – WEIGH-IN RESULTS;

RODRIQUEZ GETS A NEW OPPONENT

DALLAS, TX, July 15, 2011 – In the main event rematch, Matt Horwich and Josh Rosholt both made the middleweight limit for tonight’s HDNet telecast of Shark Fights 17 at The Dr. Pepper Arena in Frisco, Texas.  In the co-main event, Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Ricco Rodriquez weighed in at a lean 227 pounds while his opponent Karl Knothe came in over the 230-pound catch weight limit.   Doug Williams, originally set to face Daniel Almeida, will move into the co-main event against Rodriquez.

Shark Fights 17 will take place on Friday, July 15th at the Dr. Pepper Arena in Frisco, Texas live on HDNet.  Doors Open at 6pm CT.  Fights start at 7pm CT.  Tickets are on sale starting at $20. Several fighters from Shark Fights 17 did not make their contracted weight, forcing two bouts to be changed to a catch weight.  Featherweight Erik Perez came in a quarter pound over the 146-pound limit, while on the undercard both featherweight combatants Victor Hernandez and Quaint Kempt failed to make their 146-pound limit.  Both fights have been re-scheduled as 150-pound catch weight bouts.  Gabe Vasquez and Russell Brewer both made their agreed upon 180-pound catch weight.

The live HDNet telecast of Shark Fights 17 begins Friday at 10 p.m. ET (9 p.m. CT local time).
