Andre Galvao Returns to Competition in Houston!

HOUSTON, TX, June 20, 2011 – 7x World Champion and ATOS leader Andre Galvao returned to competition yesterday for the first time since the Samurai Pro and winning his division at the 2011 Pan American Championships.

Competing at the Fight for Faith tournament, a charity event put on by Mission Church of Katy, TX, Galvao competed in a middleweight superfight against Carlos Diego Ferreira or Arsenal BJJ, winning by a score of 3-0.

Not stopping after his scheduled superfight, Galvao also elected to participate in the open class of both the GI and NO-GI divisions in a field that included 2011 Worlds Absolute 3rd placer Alexandre Ceconi, Eduardo Ramos, Jorge Macaco Patino, and many other impressive brown and black belts. Galvao performed impressively throughout the entire event, winning every match and notably beating Alex Ceconi 16-0 in the NO-GI absolute while suplexing him three times en route to the victory.

“I wanna say thank you to my lord Jesus Christ and everyone who brought me down here to Texas,” said the victorious Galvao. “Pastor Brian did an excellent job with the (Fight for Faith) tournament!”
