Stepping Back into the Cage with Alex Black; Ready to Do Battle Once More Against Tim Snyder at Legacy!

March 21, 2011 – Coming off a devastating knockout loss in his last fight at IXFA this past February, Bushi Ban fighter Alex Black returns to the cage April 9^th at the Legacy Fighting Championship looking for a bit of redemption in his third professional fight .

Regarding that last fight, the Bushi Ban instructor has a clear perspective of what happened that night that lead to his defeat, offering up no excuses.

“Gilbert (Jimenez)  came to win that night and that’s exactly what he did. I came out with my hands low and he threw an overhand right and it landed, it stunned me pretty bad and then he finished up with some good shots standing in my guard. “

After getting finished in such grandiose fashion, there are many fighters in this world that would take some time off to regain themselves before stepping back into the gym and putting those gloves on again.

Some will take a week, others a few months, and countless others will hit that first roadblock only to find themselves lacking the courage and desire to step into the cage under those bright lights in order to risk it all again.

For Alex Black, that was not the case.

Now with a .500 record and a fresh perspective, Alex was back in the gym that very next Monday seeking to correct those mistakes he made in order to improve into the fighter he wants to be.

“My head is right where it needs to be, this loss was a wakeup call and I would rather have it happen now then down the road. My coach always tells me that I will learn more about myself when I lose a fight compared to when I win one. And that’s exactly what happened I’ve learned a lot about myself and it will only help me grow to be better.”

With those lessons in mind, Alex Black will look to test himself once more at the Legacy Fighting Championship against his most experienced opponent yet in Tim Snyder, an 11-7-1 knockout artist and Muay Thai specialist out of Paradigm Training Center. Fresh off a walk-off KO win against Aaron Barringer at Legacy this past November and with a career knockout against Steve Garcia to his record, they don’t call Snyder “The Terminator” for nothing.

Despite that pedigree, Alex Black is undeterred and certainly not intimidated. Mentioning in this interview that Snyder seems like a nice guy and “comes from a gym full of good, respectful people,” Black will look to take out his opponent on April 9^th, regardless of how much respects him, his accomplishments, or his team.

“I think it’s a good match up. I think it will be a pretty solid fight, He has the experience by far but I don’t think that will play a factor in the fight. We are both pretty well rounded fighters, I know he has great boxing and good takedown defense. It will most likely turn into a classic striker versus grappler match. I’m just going to show up to win. I’m not going to make a prediction but I’m going out there to win plain and simple.”

According to Alex, fighting is his life now and he loves it. That passion and drive for the sport have him wanting to fight at four or five times by the end of the year if not more.

“I would like to be thought of a respectful fighter that would fight anyone. I don’t want to build my career on fighting no bodies. I want to fight the best and I will step up to any challenge put in front of me.”

The Fighter’s Perspective; Alex Black on Life Outside the Cage – Well I guess if you asked to people closest to me they would probably say that I’m a kid with his head on straight. I’m a kid in the sense of that I’m still young and like to have fun and act like a kid most the time but I have a good head on my shoulders and when it comes time to get serious about what I have in front of me then I take is serious and do the best I possibly can. I’m also very laid back and caring person, some of my friends would say that I care too much sometimes.

I would like to be remembered for always trying to do good things and always helping people that need help. As long as people remember me as a good person then I’m happy.
