Jordan Gaza wrapping up preparation for Legacy Fights on Feb. 18th.

by Jordan Gaza as told to Mike Valentine, TXMMA co-editor.

I asked if Jordan could take a few minutes out of her hectic schedule to give us some insight into how an 18 year old girl can balance school, cheerleading, and the unrelenting training sessions that are necessary to prepare for her second MMA bout. Jordan will be looking to go 2-0 at the Legacy Amateur Combat Series on Feb. 18th at the House of Blues in Houston. TX.

Jordan writes:

“These last couple of weeks before my fight I have really been pushing myself to the limit, I literally train every day of the week (yes, Sundays too). On weekdays I get up around 5:30 am to get to SEACITY CROSSFIT by 6, I just started cross fit and I can’t even think of a harder workout than what I go through there. I usually leave that gym around 7:30 to make it to school at 9.

I get out at school at two, so after that I go straight to AMERICAN REVOLUTION every other day to work on my standup with my coach FREDDY MEDELLIN until around 4. After that I go for a 3 mile light run, and then back to AMERICAN REVOLUTION until about 930. They have an awesome fight team as well as awesome coaches. During those hours I work on kickboxing, wrestling, MMA and jiu-jitsu.

I also recently made a change to do most of my ground at GRACIE BARRA Corpus Christi, which has opened up my jiu-jitsu game A LOT! I go there as much as I can, mostly weekends. LEO CANTU is the coach, and he and his teams are amazing! On the weekends I mostly train there, as well as crossfit and cardio that I do on my own.

I DO NOT WANT TO LOSE THIS FIGHT or even come close to it! Any time I even think about being tired I picture my opponent training just as hard as me, and that gives me motivation to go harder! I even put mats and bags in my garage, it’s my “mini gym” and I train there when I have spare time. I have many people helping and believing in me which pushes me even more, I don’t want to let anyone down and don’t plan to.
I am now less than 2 weeks away from my fight and this is my last week of hard training, which means I have to give it my all. I have ALOT of heart and I have so much love for the sport let’s hope I have a great next week and good luck and happy training to everyone else fighting on the 18th.
