NDBJJ Hits the Road, Brings Titles and Bellator Win back to North Texas

North Dallas BJJ/MMA didn’t let the lack of local shows in August hamper their fighters from notching some notable wins. Head coach and owner J.D. Shelley and Kru Raymond Carlos Moreno gathered their young prospects and sought out glory and gold on the road.

They began their road trip by taking three amateur fighters into Louisiana to compete in the latest XFC event “Natural Disaster II.” Fernando Salas and Kris Bickham took the 135 lb. and 170 lb. titles, respectively, both securing wins by armbar, with Bickham taking little damage in his dominating victory. Despite a valiant effort, Jon Hunter was handed a loss but showed great promise for his future endeavors.

Thursday brought the team back across the state lines into San Antonio for the FSN-televised Bellator 27. NDBJJ’s Steven Peterson, the amateur Fight to Win Featherweight Champion, looked to take his professional career to the next level. He didn’t disappoint his fans that made the trip, rising to the occasion with a unanimous decision victory over hometown fighter Ernest de la Cruz 30-27, 30-27, 29-28.
