Mauricio “Shogun” Rua took the MMA world by storm ever since his debut at Meca Vale Tudo in Brazil. Coming from the famous Chute Boxe camp, which he no longers defends, and training back then alongside teammates like Wanderlei Silva, Anderson Silva and his brother Murilo “Ninja” Rua, Shogun quickly went into the Pride Fighting Championships in Japan, where he defeated competition in exciting fashion until he became the 2005 Pride Middleweight Grand Prix champion. Shogun holds a TKO win over current UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson. Rua impressed fans and press worlwide with his performances, combining an aggressive style, with fast paced action both on the ground and on the feet, using deadly knee strikes, and punch-kick combos, as well as a solid ground game that saw him winning fights in Brazil, Japan and the USA. His record is so impressive he is still ranked among the top 5 Light Heavyweights in the world, look for Shogun to return to the Ocgaton this fall possibly to face the “Ice Man” Chuck Liddell.
